Zip zap zoomed both weekend days.

Sunday i rode to Suches to meet Duffy and another rider.

We rode hither and thither ending at a restaurant -OUT OF BUSINESS - for lunch.

Rode back to TWoSuches for lunch.

Afterwards I said goodbye as they headed towards the north Atlanta metro mess.

I had some back roads to ride as I headed home.

Up and over Brasstown Bald on Hwy 180.

On the eastern downslope I made a left onto Owl Creek Rd.

As I make the turn I see a cyclist standing off to the side in the shade of trees. It's a hot day, about 88F.

As I ride along I realize that the guy looked very shiny faced.

A U turn and I ride back to him.

He's a stocky Hispanic guy with poor English and I have poor Spanish.

We communicate badly and I determine he has very little water in his ONE water bottle. He's already ridden about 60 miles and is heading back to Dahlonega which is about 35 -40 miles away. NOT A FLAT ROUTE no matter which route he chooses.

His skin looks very shiny. I used to ride mountain bikes when i lived in the UK and a couple of times I rode too far on a hot day and I know I looked like he does.

I tell him I will get some water for him from a gas station and to stay where he is.

Zip, zap, zoom and 5 miles later I have 3 bottles of water and a alarge bag of non peanut M&M's in my saddle bag.

Zip, zap, zoom and I'm back with Julio.

I persuade him to hold one bottle between his wrists for a few minutes to help cool him down. I wasn't going to try to get him to hold one between his thighs to cool the femoral artery with our language problems  Evil

He drinks half a bottle. Fills up his water bottle, puts another bottle in his empty holder and then he drinks the remnants of the bottle he had opened.

I really wanted to stop a passing SUV or pickup to try to get him a ride at least part of the way back to Dahlonega but where we were is lightly traveled.

I couldn't offer him a ride as I had no passenger seat fitted.

I put the empties in my saddlebag and zip, zap, zoom off I go.

Good for you

I was talking with DDT about what I do when I see a person who looks like a homeless or out of work vet by the side of the road,  NOT panhandling usuallyon a highway off ramp

I  do keep lots of water bottles in the car and offer one .  The response is almost every time one of happy amazement   Think of it, its just water, but again IT IS WATER

Some would say its like throwing starfish back into the sea, but it makes a difference to one at a time

Keep up the good work Paul  cooldude

Good on both of you, and I like the water idea. I'm going to start carrying a few bottles in my cages.
