My 99 Interstate was dropped on its right side by the previous owner and as such has a dent in the tank where the inner fairing panel hit the tank. The bars will move all the way to the right until contact is made with the tank. It does not contact on the left side. How do I go about checking to see what is broken or out of adjustment in order to keep this from happening?

I believe there are stops, in by the steering head (underneath), to stop the bars from going too far.  Perhaps this was damaged on the right.  Up on the jack for a little investigation.

It is well known that the cop competitors in those tight windy cone competitions often cut the steering stops off their Hog competition bikes.

It might be #6 in the frame schematic.

But it is possible the frame itself was dented in, vs the stopper.
