Somewhere out West, Which way did I go?

« on: June 22, 2018, 09:01:36 PM »

Brad "Clay" Knowles (one of the old VERMIN Crew) over shot a tight corner outside of Leggitt, CA this morning. After the 100' fall, his bike landed on top of him.

His son, Justin "Pup" (who painted a number of the VERMIN bikes), another of the Vermin, jumped down to lift the bike off and try to help.

Both were air-lifted. Brad did not make it. Justin's back is messed up from jumping down to try and help his dad.

The trip has not been a good one from the get-go. Justin's fiancé totaled her bike yesterday (as I understand it).

Justin has asked that if you have an urge to call him, to please refrain for a few days.  His plate is rather full at the moment, on top of some recovery of his own.  I'll update as I learn additional.

My neck of the woods. Read of the incident in a local online news source. Quite familiar with that road. My heart felt feelings go out to the son who came to the aid of his dad. Tragic.

Awful.  As riders cliff diving and tree hugging aren't in the plan when we mount up, but we know they are not beyond the realm of possibility.  Like Skinhead said, be careful guys and gals!

Ratdog !   I have not heard from you in so long, maybe since shortly after our friend KC met his demise coming back from seeing his family and ran into the semi.

Hope you are doing ok? Still have the black Valk?

Our prayers go out to the family What a tragedy

Another link to the event.

https://lostcoastoutpost.com/2018/jun/22/motorcyclist-killed/

Justin told me his dad coded three times enroute to the hospital, and was pronouced at the hospital.  When I asked Justin how he was, he told me he is not able to bend over to tie his shoes, due to the injury to his back while jumping down to render aid to his father before EMS could respond... and while having to lift the bike off his father.  This is a fine young man, who now has a very heavy load placed upon his shoulders.

I've had the pleasure of many fine hours shared in the company of these two men, much rubber worn out together, many laughs shared, some heavy-hearted moments also shared together.  Brad will be sorely missed.

Oss, it's been quite a while.  Life's path has kept me from enjoying my bike like I used to, but, it's still mine and waiting for that next assigned path to take me down.

I'm well, busier than a three tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs... anticipating a trip to Montana in the fall. Will be looking for a few deer with my name on 'em.

Good talking to you last night Danny, thank you for your help today, in getting folks advised.  I sent Justin a text to keep him in the loop of the progress of your efforts, he appreciates it a lot.  I figured he needed to read some good news to bolster his spirits.

The link to the lost coast outpost was the source I found it on. I can't think of anything worse than a father/son ride gone wrong. Some of my best times on two wheels were riding with my kid. I can't imagine. My sincere thoughts to all involved.
