Why would anyone shave a cow like that?

Broussard, Louisiana

« on: June 23, 2018, 02:51:01 AM »

Well, like Britman said, the picture monster has been unleashed.

A couple of weeks ago, I had a heavy hankering for pie.  It was a HEAVY, Heavy hankering! Did a search one night for the best pie in Louisiana.  One of the joints that came up was Lea's Lunchroom up in Lecompte, Louisiana.  Hmmmmm, that is only 90-95 miles from here, temps had dropped to a brisk, cool 95 degrees.....WHOOO-HOOOO - RIDE FOR PIE!!!!!  Bonnie and I had met Hard6 there a year or two ago there and the pie was good. Strapped a picnic basket on the back and when my child bride went for an afternoon nap, off I shot!

Traffic wasn't bad on I-49 North up to Lecompte - it was a good ride up and then BINGO.

Man, they had CASES of PIE!  What to get?  What to get??????

Well, figured any of the meringue pies might not make it back in this frigid 95 degree temp or cream pies, so stick with fruit.....Hmmm, which one?  Well, they only have one cherry left, so give me a cherry...........My wife likes Peach and Apple - Ok, throw one of each in there............WAIT, WAIT,  Bumbleberry?  Man, I ain't ate bumbleberry since that Purple Pie Place in South Dakota....Ok, throw one of those in there as well.........WHOO-HOO.  Man, they sure smell good, may as well have a slice while I am here....

Hmmmm, which one?  I didn't order a blueberry but man, peach sure would go good.........heck, give me one of each and make one alamode!

BOY HOWDY!!!

Went out to the bike and the pies were too big to fit in the basket....well, out came the ROK straps!  Problem solved!

Rode around and checked out the Bayou......

Shot back to the house and was back before she got up!  190 miles for pie and worth every inch!!!!!

Cut them up, gave two to daughters and left 2 for us.....had pie for the week!  Man, that was gooooooood pie.  The "Ride for Pie" was well worth it!

Strider!

Ride for pie... what a concept! Heck, I thought troutdude and I were the only serious pie chasers around here. Glad to see a ride report from you... we miss you a bunch!!!

P.S. You continue to confirm an observation I made a long time ago... "Style ain't about how you look; It's about how you live!" I like the way you stylize and such, my friend...

My blood sugar shot up just looking at those pictures! I love pie but it’s a big no-no for me, just have to settle for all the fond memories of all the pie I ate over the years made by my mother. Mother is 90 this year and her pies are still a hit at local functions and I’m lucky to have her and she feels like making a pie from time to time.

That red and white was sure standing tall and looking sweet.

wonder what  cost more the gas to get back and forth or the 4 pies?

Must have been worth it since PIE IS GOOD!!   cooldude

I have done the same thing, although about 40 miles away, for flavored popcorn.  I guess we all have our weaknesses we crave?   Cool

Last year Bonnie and I went to the Canadian Rockies, flew into Calgary and rented a car and rode down from Calgary and passed thru Highway to the sun east to west intending to come back up thru the west, We stopped at Park Cafe for breakfast and I noticed lots of pies.

They smelled so good that we came back east for some pie, well like you a generous portion we will say here

The best was Grizzlyberry pie I recall. with ice cream and whipped cream

As usual lots of carbs make me tired  Fortunately I  purchased an extra slice of that yummy pie for the road as well, for purely medicinal purposes, mind you, and had Bonnie feed me a forkful every so often during the 3 hours back to the next hotel in Canmore AB

Boy howdy indeed my brother, job well done

Motorcycle manufacturers need to take into account the dimensions of the average pie when making their hard bags.

On our way back from a trip to Nova Scotia, we were taking US 1 south.

Found this restaurant just by chance.  Helens Restaurant in Machias, ME.  One of their T-shirts has the "Death by Pie" logo on its back.
