very sad that kid has the right to wear that hat didn't deserve all that crap. Austin what can I say 40 years ago heaven on earth today over crowded expensive really kind of a hell hole now traffic is gridlock there now 24 7. 250 thousand to over 3 million way too much growth and the city was never ready for it. My brother has lived there for 45 years a professional musician. You should hear the stories he tells now. I cant repeat here but hes looking too leave now. But they still come and say its wonderful I just don't get it.

Unfortunately the city of my birth (As well as most other large cities even here in The Republic) are pretty much lost causes at this point. Fortunately the city of my birth is still on the right track. I haven't followed Texas politics in decades, but I'm so old I can remember Texas being pretty much Democrat. My grandparents pretty much followed the trend. They were LBJ and Ladybird Democrats until Reagan and then Katie bar the door. |

You should never fire a warning shot. You will be taking the chance of unlawful discharge of a weapon charge. If the threat is great enough to warrant drawing your weapon the only shots should be into the assailant. |

99% of the time a warning shot is just stupid. If you can (lawfully) shoot at all, then shoot the perp. If you can't lawfully shoot the perp, you shouldn't shoot at all (warning or otherwise), and maybe shouldn't even show a weapon.
But I headed two people intent on causing me serious harm off, just by showing a weapon (showing, not pointing at them). Both were a lot bigger than me, but not showing me a weapon, so I didn't shoot. I just wasn't going to let them get close enough to get a hold of (smaller) me and maybe pound me into dust (and I didn't KNOW if they had a hidden weapon or not). It worked both times.
But, in my experience, depending on facts and circumstances, a warning shot might just be the right thing to do. In general, it would be in a case where a weaker, smaller, younger, female, retarded, impaired, drunk, handicapped (one or more of these, you get the idea) person than you presents a lethal threat to you, and you could shoot based on that threat.... but thinking ahead to a police investigation, grand jury, prosecutor, and defense attorney fees, you think a warning shot is all it will take to make them stop what they are doing. (Preparing for center mass if it doesn't).
Mostly, I don't care what other people think. But if you shoot someone, how the cops, grand jury, prosecutors, and press think can actually be important to you.
