So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

Covington, TN

Seriously considering getting the wheels (some folks call them rims) on the 98 Valkyrie polished to a mirror finish.   Anyone know a business that does this?

Thought about trying to do this myself but I know where my talents are and are not.

Look for metal polishers in your area. When I was still drivin big truck the larger truck stops had folks runnin around polishing by hand and most of em do a decent job. IF you go that route-truck stop-TELL them up Front what you expect. Negotiate your Price up FRONT. No/none/nada/zero advances. RIDE SAFE.

Understood, just thinking about it and more likely to use a reputable operating business with a good reputation.

You might want to powder coat them afterward to preserve the shine and prevent oxidizing.  However that entails more effort than initially considered.  Bearings and discs need to be removed, new bearings installed, and the powder kept out of the threaded holes and all the fitted parts seats.  eg, the bearing seats, the rear brake disc seat, the drive cushion plate grooves.  I told my powder coater - "probably don't need to mention this, but keep the powder out of all those places."  He ignored me, didn't seal off the powder and made a lot of extra work for me Dremelling and tapping the threads. I had mentioned, do a great job and I'll send my friends here. He also took twice as long as he promised, got the color wrong and had to redo it while I had to stop a check, and made and broke around 30 promises (not keeping one) pertaining to status reports, delivery time, color etc. Almost made my departure for Inzane late and I had started his work 6 weeks beforehand. Then he said he'd have to increase the price for others going forward - though his original quote was competitive. His is a newish local business I was supporting.  So instead, stay away from TruckTrixx Powder Coaters on Hwy 86, Kiowa, CO.  Locally there are powder coaters in CO Springs with good reps.

However with my insistence on fixing his bad color, the final result is passable.  And easy to clean.

Appreciate the information.   cooldude   Will look into the cost.

I thought my friend Bruce would share a wealth of knowledge on this subject.   Ya can't avoid something as much as he does and not have a clue as to why, what and how.....    Wink

Unfortunately the retail meat business isn't very lucrative. I will have 500k in my 401k, $1,800 in pension a month, and my Social Security income that should be about $2,500 for the wife and I. It is what it is. I've done the best I could to be viable and still have some fun.

Should be ok with $4300 a month plus the half mil...unless an unfortunate event occurs.
