sure beats cutting it with an axe... Wink

I did a huge lilac bush only like 8 inches around with roots galore and am sure that took me by hand (with axe, etc.)  longer than it did that big root you did with nice machinery.  Yah, I know,  work smarter, not harder.... Cry

Hey Stan wanted to ask you a question about weed wackers. Currently have the Sthil FS80R good unit and recently put a carb on it and now it running good again. I have a deal from the lawnmower store for  a Echo 280t and was wondering if its worth getting it. I dont have a big yard but I use it constantly and the power makes for quick work of edging as well as normal weed wacking stuff. Ive had the Stihl for quite a few years and is in good condition the issue is do I really need to spend on the Echo, and will it be that much different. They have a Shindawa unit but they didn't recommend going that way because they say they are not quite as reliable as the Echo.

Glad things are going well for you, any more sheds being built?

I have want a lean too on the side of my garage to put somethings into and have not started the project yet but think of the great job you did on the sheds you build.

The Stihl versus Echo equipment is a lot like Ford versus Chevy...…..personally, I like the Echo equipment better and have an Echo PAS225 system where I can change between edger, weedeater, hedge trimmers, and pole saw......I mainly use it here at my house and at my Inlaws...and just a little at my side business....they make a more powerful head for larger/commercial jobs, but this one is plenty enough for Homeowner duty.....it's a step above Ryobi type equipment...….

Our mechanic at Landscape Mgt prefers the Stihls...as well as a lot of my crew members.....he says it's easier working on those compared to the Echo...…...Ethanol gas is what is the main problem with all two cycle equipment...it's best to pay a little more for non ethanol.....my old Ryobi's carb was replaced once due to that issue, but I couldn't get a new carb the second go round...thus I bought the Echo system...Either one of those without the carb issue should be plenty of machine for around the house...... cooldude

As far as sheds, I don't have anymore room in my back yard for them...have a greenhouse, Valk shed, woodworking shop, and small utility shed with attached lean to....they were fun to build.... but we only have a half acre lot...…. Cheesy

Sometimes it's a PIA even with the right tools...my chain on my saw was almost at the end of it's life, so I went ahead and used it to give my sawsall a break...now I can buy a new chain with no guilt.. cooldude

There's an electric/battery EGO weed eater, it was on sale at Home Depot
a few weeks ago for $150 (regular about $190)...

We picked one up, we do gnarly things with weed eaters out here, keep paths in
the woods cleared and stuff.

I can compare this EGO weed eater to my other weed eater, a high-end Red Max
one I've had for 10 or 15 years... the EGO uses the .095 string and is almost as
aggressive as the Red Max.

I have some other EGO stuff including an extra big (5ah) battery, and I'm
ready for a break before the battery gives out.

I have the Stihl ht131 pole saw, and love that thing. Sure beats that manual pole I had at first. Then bought the electric Remington and used that for awhile till the pole broke and still have the chain saw portion of that one, then went to the Stihl. I can go up about 16 feet with it but it is a bit heavy but it cuts branches like nothing.

I have had a couple close calls though with those branches falling.  uglystupid2

Glad to hear the Ford vs Chevy issue since I have the Echo HCA-266 hedge trimmer and that has saved me so much time and effort. The fact that I can put it in any position to trim sure makes life easier. I have the BP 600 blower also to do final clean up. I have noticed that the Echo's are lighter easier to pull and seem to start a bit faster.

I was using the new Echo Red Angel 2 cycle oil and it was ok till I changed to the Red Line 2 cycle racing oil and I can tell you if you want your equipment to work great then try this stuff. Some motorcycle shops sell it and thats where I bought my first bottle from. Like I said I had to replace the carb on my weed wacker and put the new one on and it was showing symptoms like the old carb when it started to go. So I dumped the fuel and figured I would give it a try. All my equipment runs much better with it higher rpms, better idle and much smoother and easier starting. I also no longer get the problem of not accelerating since its cold for a few seconds, they rev right off the bat from the first start.

I really dont need to get the new Echo wacker but probably will.

Say any drawings on the lean to or you just winged it?

My son in law just bought a electric mower and blower and loves them, I just cant seem to get the idea out of my head not to use gas though.

I hear the Red Max are good units, I dont know why around here they are not that many that sell them. I always use the .095 string since if I go bigger and have an oooopppps moment it might result in half my bushes being cut down  Grin

I can would love to try the .110 string but, sometimes I cut very close to the bushes and trim the weeds that grow around the rock I have in a few places. I have already stripped some of the bark off the bushes.

I reduce my EGO weed eater opinion down to "good".

I used them back-to-back today. The EGO's .095 line is crushed
by the unbreakability of the Red Max's .13 line...  and when you break
one of the EGO's lines, it is clumsy to fix it back right.

One reason I would consider the Echo is they have a new string loader that is super easy.

ECHO Speed Feed Trimmer Head
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBHhFP6gnos

reload head in 30 seconds.  cooldude

I hate it when Im out doing my lawn and run out of string have to stop and reload, this would make it effortless.
