"When You're Dead, Your Bank Account Goes to Zero"

Livin' Better Side of The Great Divide

« on: July 08, 2018, 09:20:03 AM »

Watching it now for the first time on The History Channel.  What a hoot!  Whether he was the greatest huckster on two wheels or whether he was the craziest, brave man on two wheels.  He was somethin', wasn't he?  The one and only.                                                                                              Great footage and stories from those who knew him and worked with him, from beginning to end.

Later on this evening is a show on the same channel called "Evel Live"; not gonna miss it.
Too hot to ride anywhere today and so I'll watch the master of disaster in action for a couple of hours.

Anyone ever see Evel jump in person?

I'd jump a Valkyrie.

But not one of mine.   Grin

Perhaps this would show a lack of confidence.  But I wouldn't jump in a bathing suit.

They said he wanted to use a bike similar to what Evel used. So they built him a custom Indian Scout. Why didn't he just use and old Ironhead like Evel did??? That would have made it more of a feat.

Had Pastrama been on the same Iron Head, that last jump may well have led to more broken bones of which Travis has had many, maybe as many as Evel himself.   He came down hard on the rear tire only.  That flat track racer Scout FTR 750 only has 4 inches of travel yet he never bottomed out.  Must be a heck of a shock, something that could have saved Evel a lot of pain in his day.   A great day for Pastrama and for Indian Motorcycle.
