Well thought my goodyear triple tread had a lot of life yet, but a small piece of steel went thru shoulder of tire. Guess not to bad considering its been 11 years since last puncture.  Thinking of trying Yokohama envigor.

Check your tire pressure

Matt, I knew telling people I had not had a bike flat for 35 years was going to cause karma to bite me. (though it never went flat)

As I was packed to leave Inzane, Mark T showed me a nail dead center in my Goodyear TripleTred.  CRAP!!  (Thanks Mark  cooldude)

I couldn't get any air bubbles and the air pressure was a pound over what I set it at before leaving for Inzane, so I rode home on it (4 hours freeway) (pump and repair kit in the bags).  Wore the head off the nail on the way home.  And I still lost no pressure... but the nail was definitely through the tire, I checked later.  Just another testament to a car tire being stronger and safer than a bike tire.

My Goodyear only had about 5K miles on it (almost new), and I did not need rear end service, so I just had a fellow stick a string plug in (without reaming the hole bigger), and it is holding and not leaking down at all.  If it doesn't start leaking down or showing any signs of failure, I'm just going to run the plug until the next rear end service.  Then, I'll either patch the inside, or replace the tire.

I hate the idea of replacing a 5K car tire.  It takes about 5K to get them good and scuffed in.

Lots of guys think the Goodyear Assurance Tripletred is a nasty square time, but I don't.  It's all I've ever run, and they last 37K, and handle great.... for me. (40psi constant, with slightly advanced center wear... but still good to 37K)
