Just a chance that anyone close to the area could stop and check out this Valk IS for me. I'm in Vermont, planning on trek out there and riding it home from dealership. But would love to have a knowledgeable Valk owner check it first. (maybe $, food, friendship in return ;-)

I go a lot of places and it's not unusual for me to transport to that area but, nothing going that way this next week (yet).   Can't promise anything, it's almost 6 hours away but if I go that way I'd be happy to take a look and give you my opinion.   Just did the same thing for a gentleman from FL.

Here's a bump for your thread anyway.  Hope this works out for you.   :cooldude:

Try going over to the Ohio board, lots of active members over there that might be able to help you out.

Not trying to be ornery, just curious.  There are some nice Valkyries for sale here in New England.  What does a dealer have to incentivize you?  That's a long ride home for a mystery bike that I'd bet the dealer has no knowledge about.  Remember that most of their mechanics weren't born when this bike was built.

Speaking only for myself, I recently considered a Valkyrie in FL because, it was precisely what I wanted.  Nothing but what I wanted.   We weren't able to get together on price but had we been able to, I would have been traveling from KY to FL to ride it back.   Besides that, it would be another adventure.  ;)

;) Been there done that. I'm sure somebody in OH will help you. I have bought 2 Valk's of CL. I'm in the Pan-handle of FL, so buying my first in N. AL on the AL / TN line. I had a friend who lives and works that area check it out for me. His recommendation got me up there and I bought it.  :smitten: That gentleman for an extra $100 trailered it half way down AL where I met him and drove it home. The second bike I found on CL in Kingsport, TN; 600 miles away. Excatly what I was looking for, a very clean IS w/ low miles 26k and a trailer to boot. Rode my Tourer up looked it over and bought it. Nice guy held on to the bike & trailer for 2 weeks when I took a bus ride up to ride it  back. I like the Adventure too!  :coolsmiley:

I have searched New England and only found a couple of Interstate bikes. Most have higher miles on odo than I want. Don't want all black.  If you know of way to search all dealers in New England that have Valk Interstates - other than Cragislist / Searchtempest.com - let me know! Only other bike I was considering is in NJ. But that one has a low-rider Ultimate seat, and closer to handlebars. I know it's swappable, but I'd rather get all-in-one and done package.

Did you try Cycle Trader? You can add a mile distance into the search info to keep it close or where ever.

I certainly have been tempted to fly and ride for the right machine.  Haven't yet but there may come a time for that "just have to own it" item.  I would be comfortable with a long time owner/Valkyrie enthusiast that hasn't been sitting for a while.  I have little confidence in dealers with Valkyries or Goldwings; even Honda dealers.  Of course that's why you are asking for an expert to take a look for you. :cooldude:

The Interstates are great bikes and yes, most are black.  There are many great color combinations and certainly you might need to travel a ways for the one you want.

Good luck with your search.

What appears to a clean red and black 2000 IS with just over 16,000 miles. The owner says he, "wouldn't hesitate to ride this bike to California and back today".  This accomplishment would be worthy of a Platinum Butt award or something, as the bike is in Oklahoma!

Wow - thanks for bringing that to my attention! It IS just what I was looking for.  The ebay auction ended, bike not sold. I found he listed it locally, have been chatting with him. BOUGHT IT!
Now to fly out there and have road trip home.  Only 1,443 Miles! Picking it up in 3 weeks. :-)  :-)

If you haven't yet, read the Known Valkyrie Problems, posted in the Shoptalk.

Enjoy your ride back home.

The IS should take you to 175 mile or more to reserve, when traveling around the 3200 or less rpm range.
