what would happen if some ole geezer or geezerette wearing a MAGA hat and was packin' and then some idiot would come up and take his/her hat, and in the process, knock him/her down.

First of all, would that be assault and secondly would it also be disparity of force, resulting in a call for Mr. Glock?

That is ABSOLUTELY a disparity of force. If that happened in Texas, the investigating cops would probably kick the body.

It happened this week in Florida. Not over a MAGA hat but a handicapped parking spot. A man was challenged for apparently parking illegally in a hadicapped spot. He shoved the man who challenged him and got shot/killed. I don't think charges will be filed.

Yes that is an assault, and there is disparity of force (age/size), but once you were knocked down, if he just stood there and offered no more violence (but yelling), deadly force at that point would be a mistake. 

While on the floor, shooting him in the foot would clearly show no intent to kill, but you'd probably still get charged with something (aggravated assault).  The law would say his assault was over, then you assaulted him. 

Now if he leaned in and went to work on you, put one in his head.

Had some thoughts on this recently. The scenario I'd like to see is about a dozen guys go out for breakfast or lunch, sit in groups of 2-4 then have a couple of them come in with a MAGA cap on. When the inevitable confrontation occurs the group quietly gets up and surrounds the idiot(s). Drive them out of the restaurant and if they try and strike or hit, make sure they have a terrible, terrible fall. Shoot, you'd have a dozen witnesses to the fall.

If nothing happens, everybody gets a good meal and buddy time.
