Heatshield missing? Gray spots?

I noticed on the right muffler and there's a heatshield on top towards near the tip, but none on the left side, is that normal?
Also on the muffler tips are some square areas with no chrome what are painted gray is they also normal?

Perfectly normal the rt protects the rear end from the heat of the exhaust. The silver squares are weld points.
