Was taking a ride one and day here in Florida and we have the tolls on some of the roads. They take a pic on your license plate and bill you, but I never had seen a pic of one of them. So I was putting my cc on the site and was looking around and found this pic of me going through one. Not a good pic but not bad considering I was doing about 65 through the toll booth.

I often see zip-splats pulling wheelies just before the toll booths around here so the cameras can't get their license plates...

I'm curious what your tolls cost.  Here in Colorado, the E-470 toll road bypasses the Denver metro area on the east side of town.  It is about 50 miles long and costs a whopping $14.25!  I've never seen tolls that high.

Oss

cash toll on GW bridge going up to 15.
To cross each way across the sound  Throggs Neck Whitestone or Triboro (RFK) bridges going up to 8.50 each way

So when I drive my mom to see her brother in long island I could be paying 32 bux just for the tolls

EZ pass is less but it still is robbery

One more reason why I live in Ossining,  dont have to take no stinkin bridges or toll roads to get to work
and if I cross at bear mtn its just 1.50   I can tell you if you come to the ride in October the TZ bridge w.o EZpass is $5. only going eastbound.   We will not cross the Hudson going eastbound,  south of Bear Mtn on any rides
If you don't know where your going any road will take you there

An old HD rider I know, his plate was up under his trunk from the factory. Perfectly legal. He never got charged for crossing the toll bridges we had.

Get caught with any tricks on your plate, and you could be seeing a fine higher than a years worth of tolls.

HUMMMM I wonder if I could remount that plate. LOL no not really I do have the transponder stuck to the top of my saddle bag. But the tolls here are anywhere from .35 to 1.50 but if you go up on the turnpike north the toll is like 9 dollars. Most of the time its for things like HOV lanes and if you are going to Miami it makes life much easier. Sometimes on the weekends if the traffic looks like there may be a bit, I will take the HOV lanes since there is no one in them and you are not forced to deal with the idiots on the road, sometimes I am the only one on them. All in all it makes the travel much easier and enjoyable.

The separation between the HOV lanes and the regular traffic is rubber poles. If you cross and go into the HOV lane from traffic lanes and destroy the poles its 160 per pole. They are spaced about 1.5 foot apart so its impossible not to hit them.

yet another reason to live in WI, NO tolls, as of now that is.  Legislature is discusssing it but better not happen.

The very few times I go thru flatlander IL state,  I nearly always can find a back route, although longer, to avoid almost all tolls.  It may take longer to find roads to go around tolls, but then again, the few times I did go thru IL tolls it was backlogged traffic stop and go so not really saving much time.  Yet another reason to not live in IL.

There are not any toll roads up near where I live near Ottawa but when you get down around Toronto there is a few roads that have tolls but they're not very expensive.

You THINK M/Cs and cages have High tolls? Try runnin an 18 wheeler on ANY toll road or bridge ANYWHERE here in the states. Oss-help me out here. I believe it is near a bridge but I DO remember a toll in N Y area where the ONLY vehicles that had to pay the toll were 18 wheelers and buses. Wanna spend a LOT of loot? Leave Chicago Illinois using their toll roads going east using the Indiana toll road the Ohio toll road the Pennsylvania Turnpike and the New York thruway then run around N Y and N J. Before those electronic boxes in the windshield I'd have to have $300.00  $400.00 in CASH to take care of all the tolls. Even the toll roads in Oklahoma and Kansas are Not inexpensive for an 18 wheeler. When I visit da prez and my S I L in Il. I AVOID like the plague those cursed toll roads. Oh and lest I fergit-do NOT be hungry and decide to eat in ANY restaurant on ANY toll road. You Think tolls are high? Lousy food at ridiculous prices at those "resturants"!  :tickedoff: There has been talk here in Missouri for a lot of years to make the Interstates toll roads. :-X Be yet Another reason to avoid the I.  :cooldude: RIDE SAFE.

Same here in Minnesota, we do have sane lanes going in and out the Twin Cities that people can pay to use for commuting by them selves. if you have two or more people in the car they can use for free.  Motorcycles and buses can also use for free.

Yes, motorcycles can use HOV lanes here in Colorado for free, along with cars carrying 3+ passengers, but they don't advertise it much.  There used to 'Motorcycles OK' text on the HOV signs, but now you have to read the fine print on the website AND mount a transponder.  As I remember the AMA fought to get this included in some highway legislation several years ago.

Having said that, I'm no fan of HOV lanes.  They create something like a class system, where people who can afford the tolls move along quickly, while those who can't are stuck in stop and go traffic.  Studies have also shown them to increase congestion and pollution due to inefficient utilization of lanes.

Here in Massachusetts the HOV lanes are simply available only to vehicles with 2+ passengers and motorcycles, no extra fee. Access for a fee is wrong.
