I have spent a lot of time and money making my Standard into a Tourer.

With that said if simply removing the trunk from an I/S makes it a "Super Valk", then I would like to introduce my bike as a "Super Tourer"!

What do you think?

You have done a beautiful job, that is one good looking Valk my friend. Enjoy it.

I think it's a beautiful bike...nice job. :cooldude:

I think you got a Super Standard because you added a windshield and hard bags to a Standard.  A super tourer would add a fairing to a tourer.

I added a windshield, hardbags, and a trunk to my Standard and the result is an Interstandard

That's the G-Man classification and I'm sticking to it.

Eitherway you got one nice ride!   :cooldude:

What do you think?

I think blue stripe Valkyries are awesome.

I think you have one of those Corbin gloveboxes on the rear fender?

I think most people who add bags to blue stripe Valkyries paint the bags
blue and put a stripe on them, I really like what you did.

Indeed sharp, sharp, sharp.  All that effort really paid off.  You should be proud.

Great end result, whatever you decide to call it, it's one sharp looking Valkyrie my friend

Super Standard. Doesn't have quite the ring to is as Super Tourer, but I could go with "SS". Hmmmm.

Nice job, very nice.  :cooldude:

This is my "dressed up" '98 Tourer.

 Nice...

My brother has a 97 tourer that he removed the windshield. I have a 97 standard that i put IS bags on.  Neither of our  bikes have a windshield. So is my bike a super standard and his a super tourer? Hmmmmmm.

OK now, all this talk of super Valkyries.  First off, they are all super.  I never understood why taking the  trunk off of an IS made it more super, but I can tell you this.  Taking the trunk and back seat off sure makes it more fun to ride.  So, if the fun factor is the super part than I agree!

This would be the definition of a Super Standard. Faring with sound system, hard bags and solo rear end with a 10 min conversion time to full dress or sissy bar and back seat like a stock standard.  Has to have the conversion enabled to be super IMHO

It is not simply the removal of the trunk that makes a SuperValk.  What makes is "super" is the easy convertibility from Interstate to Tourer to Standard to solo Tourer to solo Standard.

The man who coined the phrase had the trunk brackets altered to allow easy on/easy off.  He also had a two-up seating arrangement sans trunk, a solo set-up, as well as a quick bag-drop kit.  All this allowing for easy convertibility to a number of different configurations.  He called it "super" because it was 5 bikes in 1.

People may use the term SuperValk as you state, but it is not technically accurate.

We have beeen schooled. Thank you F6Gal. Curious then to get your opinion on my proposal. What are your thoughts on a designation for how I modified my bike? Super Tourer, Super Standard, not super at all?

DIGGER

My first Valkyrie was a 1999 Tourer.     Then in 2003 while getting serviced at my dealer they had a 2001 Standard in their used bike section with 600 miles on  it.   I worked a deal and brought it home.   I then took the Tourer package off the 1999 and installed on the 2001 and sold the 1999 Valkyrie as a Standard.    Then in 2006 I decided to do an Ironbutt Bun Burner Gold run and needed a little further gas range so I installed a Valkyrie Interstate tank on it.   That gave me a bout a 170 mile range before reserve.   Worked great on the run.   So I ended up with a 2001 Standard with a 1999 Tourer package and a Interstate tank.    All components are the fastest color.....black.    Love my bike.  It's a Super Tourer to me.

I've never seen the fairing as part of the convertibility, nor can I think of a good reason for it.

I think having a designation would be helpful.  I think the "super" title should be reserved for those with quick change capability... as Chrisj CMA described his Super Standard.  Maybe something like original config then what it is now, such as:

Standard-Tour
Standard-State (bags, WS, trunk)
Standard-LR (long range, IS tank)
etc, etc.

I think Smokin' Joe calls his a Tour-State (Tourer with a fairing and IS trunk).
