I've got the day off and I have 3 days worth of maintainence on my pool. It's a little hot, and I'm a little pussy. Anyway.....I'm out at 7am and it's not too bad yet. I might get it done in 2. As I'm working my thoughts drift off to my 2 weeks in Roanoke & DC, my 3 weeks in AK, and realize I'm a pretty lucky dude. Within 45 minutes I can start to feel the body ache a little. But in my mind I'm still 16. And it gets me to think God surely didn't just make me like this, he must have made others this way also. Regardless, I thank him for doing this for me. A cup of coffee and a 15 minute break, I gotta get back. I wonder, God must have been a union man ? If I'm not back in 45 minutes, send Cookiedough's Doctor.

Yeah, and throw in a little Florida humidity with the high temps! You bust a major sweat just walking out to the mailbox and back, feels like you just walked into a sauna fully clothed. Walk back into the house with the t'stat set on 78 and if suddenly feels cold. So, you start to fuss about the hot weather, tell the wife we need to spend the summers in Calgary. Then comes January to March and you're so glad you live in Florida. I wish it were possible to control the weather. I'd have it never get any colder than 45 and warmer than 80....and that day would require a slight breeze. Then order rain only on midweek days....Tuesday-Thursday, and only between the hours of 10:00am and 2:00pm. It would have to be that way so it's dry to ride to work in the morning and home at night, and weekends are perfect for whatever is planned. Maybe that's where I'm headed when I'm done with this body.

Been calculating for some time now about how my in-laws did it for about 15 years of their retirement. Three to four month intervals of Tuscon in the winter (spring training) and almost-the-end-of-the-pavement La Ronge, Saskatchewan (fishing/golf) in the summer. They were people of means (huge RV, "Moby Dick"), but I believe that my wife and I could manage to make it on a smaller budget down the road apiece. No golf though; me no chase little white ball all over pasture.
Timing to follow the seasons like the Canadian geese and enjoy the fruits of our lengthy labors; returning to western Colorado to base camp at the in-between time, Easter & Thanksgiving, when it's neither too hot nor too cold.

I don't think God has anything to do with it. Neither does global warming. I do know I just cannot take the heat like I used to. It's not FL in VA, but it's not that far off either. DC (NoVA) was built in a swamp, even the Indians didn't want it. Lowest summer miles on my bikes ever the last two years. I still go, but I go early and return early. Put in 3-4 hours in the 'scape in the heat of the day (like today), and I'm whipped. AND, I'm not too proud to say that afternoon naps are the bomb.

Is it possible that the depletion of the ozone layer and damage to the atmosphere is changing the way we perceive how hot it is? And the damage that it does? 85 degrees feels a lot hotter to me now than 30 years ago.

I don't know the answer to that. I do know it's all relative. I was in AK a couple weeks back fishing. 70* and sweating like a pig. I was working my ass of though. 115* here today and I think I've drank 5 gallons of ice water, and didn't sweat nearly as much. I likely did, but it evaporated as fast as it came out. I'm glad I work in a 50* cutting room versus outside doing construction. The idea that struck me funny this morning was that in my mind I'm still a 19 year old young buck. The body, not so much. God must have graced us with this for some reason.

Willow is correct in the 969 for Methuselah and Adam lived 930 years, and yes he is the oldest living man. But the real question is why did God shorten mans life span down to 120? God is eternal, the Alpha and Omega, with no beginning and no end that is what is meant by God being eternal. Man is a created being by Gods will out of the dust of the earth or dirt, to which mans body will return, but mans spirit is from God and that is eternal and will return to God. The cremated remains of an adult male will usually weigh around six pounds while the remains of an adult female will be closer to four pounds. I wonder if we mix all those in a mixing bowl if we can get a person.

As to man's life span. It went from nearly a thousand years to about a hundred when God created woman. That is the max man can take.
I think of God looking down upon his creation and thinking "Who are these crazy people?"

Why do men die before women (a well documented, longstanding statistic)? Because they want to. Because we like to take chances, like riding Valkyries, most have worked hard most of our lives, and have not taken care of our bodies. The old saying "if I knew I was going to live so long It would have taken better care of myself" thing. AND most of us need the woman of our lives to take care of us. When she goes first no one to take care of us.

Marriage an interesting covenant,
God made it but since the fall man has had a hard time. That covenant between a man and woman changed that day in a way that would explain much. Gen 3:16 Then he said to the woman, “I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy, and in pain you will give birth.
And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.”
This speaks of butting heads in so many ways.
Pro 25:24 It’s better to live alone in the corner of an attic than with a quarrelsome wife in a lovely home.
Pro 27:15 A quarrelsome wife is as annoying as constant dripping on a rainy day. Pro 27:16 Stopping her complaints is like trying to stop the wind or trying to hold something with greased hands.
Men love your wives, wives respect your husbands.
Job 14:5 You have decided the length of our lives. You know how many months we will live, and we are not given a minute longer.
The issue is to live until your time has come, to many die before their time.
Psa 103:2 Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me. Psa 103:3 He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.
He can in a relationship turn the hearts of a wayward husband or wife back to each other and turn the hearts of the children to their parents. He also can direct you in life to have a long and successful life, the closer you come to Him the more you realize that.

In New Zealand most definitely yes! I used to pick up bails of hay all afternoon for 2 months of the year (around 60,000 bails a year between 6 of us) with no shirt on and no sunscreen lotion...... do it for an hour now and I am burnt to a crisp.... But the ozone hole down here is big I have friends that have just got back from a whistle stop tour through Ireland, Scotland, France, Venice etc and they say that you don't feel the heat/burn from the sun like down here, yet it was hotter temps I leave the out door work for winter/spring (Now) Currently digging out ground for pavers to go down and just finished a 65sp mtr deck

The scientific research reported here strips any shred of credibility from the claims of the ozone depletion theorists leaving the Montreal Protocol backed only by the Malthusian ideotogy of its founders. The dramatic new satellite ozone data, featured on the cover, are from the Crista-Spas ensemble of instruments, designed by scientists at the University of Wuppertal in Germany, which was deployed by the Space Shuttle in November 1994. The Crista team announced its first results at a press conference in Bonn on Nov. 6, 1995, but the results of the mission were barely covered in the European press, and not covered at all in the United States. Crista-Spas is a group of instruments (Crista), deployed on a space platform (Spas), that measures atmospheric gases in such detail that it can create three-dimensional images of the distribution of the gases in the stratosphere (see Crista-Spas Project). As the German scientists told the press, these 3-D images show that the models behind the ozone depletion scare are completely, and axiomatically, wrong. In the words of Germany's Die Welt newspaper Nov. 7, the evidence presented at this press conference means that "all ozone computer models produced so far have, in effect, turned into waste paper. [Makulatur]."

That reads like something translated from another language then back again, very hard to read, and then I can't see anything on that page that's newer than 20 years old?....I didn't read it all obviously but every graph is way out of date.

As to mans age it reminds me of a saying: Why dose a jewish man die before his wife? Because he wants to! Then again God shortened our lives because we pissed him off. here he gives us all these blessings and all we do is bitch and moan and kill each other. Do we deserve more time? Or can you think of something you can do to deserve more. Something to think about in the morning

Isa 38:1 About that time Hezekiah became deathly ill, and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to visit him. He gave the king this message: “This is what the LORD says: ‘Set your affairs in order, for you are going to die. You will not recover from this illness.’”
Isa 38:2 When Hezekiah heard this, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD,
Isa 38:3 “Remember, O LORD, how I have always been faithful to you and have served you single-mindedly, always doing what pleases you.” Then he broke down and wept bitterly.
Isa 38:4 Then this message came to Isaiah from the LORD:
Isa 38:5 “Go back to Hezekiah and tell him, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of your ancestor David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will add fifteen years to your life,
Isa 38:6 and I will rescue you and this city from the king of Assyria. Yes, I will defend this city.
Isa 38:7 “‘And this is the sign from the LORD to prove that he will do as he promised:
Isa 38:8 I will cause the sun’s shadow to move ten steps backward on the sundial of Ahaz!’” So the shadow on the sundial moved backward ten steps.
God hears and answers prayers, even one about a nagging wife or husband. He can make the relationship work even if 2 people are totally opposite.
