WHERE it took place surprises me not. THAT it took place infuriates me. RIDE SAFE.

The beauty of the CA landscape is upstagged by the lunatics living there. To bad those lunatics can't remember who created all that glorious land they live in and what country allows them the freedom to be such idiots.

Even being an atheist, I find that stupid.  I guess they don't care about your constitution.

I do have a problem with evangelists and the huge amounts of money that they make off gullible people.  Most of these people are multi-millionaires and they are constantly asking for money or have some money making scheme going on.

A very sad sign of the times we are living in and the building intolerance shown towards Christianity.
The Bible said this would happen so I guess we shouldn't be too surprised.

I can't help but wonder if it was advertising for a muslim event and the koran was pictured instead of the bible would the same "outrage" taken place.

There has always been false prophets and always will be. Gullible people will always be taken advantage of I suppose. Being atheist, you have already made a conscious decision to reject God so no further input by me would be fruitful.

I'm no theologian. But it seems to me there is a huge difference between "rejecting God" and not believing there is a God to begin with.  :coolsmiley:

Yes but most theologians would agree that the results will be the same.

You and I believe there is a God. I can't prove there is a God. Can you ?

That's why it's called Faith:

QuoteHebrews 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I cannot prove the existence of God to someone who refuses to believe.  I do however know that He is real through the miracles that He has worked in my life.

I guess we are speaking in semantics. I too believe there to be a God. "Believe" being the operative word.

..

WTF can't people let other people follow their religion.

That includes those on this forum.

Always got be be butting in and telling others how wrong they are.

So childish.

To the OP the word banned is a bit too strong.  It's a case of an ad company that received resistance and chose not to do business with the Harvest Campaign.

It is a statement to the opposition of some (the complainers) and the willingness of a company to move away from its contract based upon a vocal few.

Moonshot_1

My take on this... from the article

"However, after claiming the religious imagery on the ads provoked multiple complaints, including a "serious threat," the Irvine Company mandated the billboards be modified"

I'd like to know who complained. This reeks of religious persecution. A "serious threat"? Where the hell is the ACLU? This should be an issue they should be losing their minds over, demanding justice for the pastor.

If these complaints came with threats of violence or some kind of retribution, the people complaining should be charged with extortion.

We (the SCV) paid to have this sign on the main road to Darlington before one of the
big races back when NASCAR was just starting to go scalawag...

The NASCAR powers-that-be flipped out and got the billboard company to remove the sign
before the race.

Our lawyers got them to put it back before the race  :cooldude:

Of course, nobody would put up a sign with our flag on it in the first place anymore...

-Mike "I went to that race and the high point for me was seeing the sign"

G-Man

They (whoever they are) weren't offended by the picture of a man holding up a bible.........

They were trying to stop as many people as they could from attending.

Think logically now.........  The signs were advertising for a specific event.  That means the signs were TEMPORARY.  After the event, the owner of the billboard could sell the space to someone else or remove the ad until the board is rented again.

They couldn't wait for the TEMPORARY signs to come down because every day they were up, someone may have been compelled or brainwashed into attending the function.  Less religion and less G_d the better.   :uglystupid2:

Did some research on this, it is interesting that other than one local newssource ( http://www.vvdailypress.com/news/20180808/threats-prompt-removal-of-harvest-crusade-ads-in-orange-county ) it seems only Christian or conservative slanted news sites are reporting on this.

This could mean that either the story is fake or exxagerated, or it could mean the other mainstream news aren't reporting stuff like this anymore.

Can you imagine the front page headlines if an ad for a mosque were forced down because of death threats?

Also - from reading on it it seems that the reason the ad company acted wasn't because they were offended or even cared about offending someone as much as the fact that they were getting literal death threats about it.
Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

Yep, The excrement would hit the fan!

And every national news agency would be reporting on it constantly for several weeks.

Me?

Far from it.

I don't care who believes/follows what religion so long as they don't harm another person in any way.
