This was north of Clayton so I backtracked south and headed west to go north to go east.   Cheesy

Looking west from Hwy 64 towards Hayesville, NC

Lunch

Then had a clear run up and down Deals Gap. No police and crazy quick motard riders.

Stopped at the Phillips Motel in Robbinsville. Met Bill the new owner.

He has installed 2 new covered bike areas.

Lower

Yes. He was on hold with the phone company so we didn't talk for long.

He was surprised at the lack of 90 degree days and was wondering if Robbinsville got much snow and how cold it was in winter  Shocked

That is a nice PIIC.

I'm glad that it appears the new owner is going to be motorcycle friendly.

I forgot to mention that Hwy 28 north from Hwy 74 was full of surprises.

A tree across the left half of the road with a lot of debris in my half.

A large wooden roll of steel cable had come off a pick up truck and some of the cable was coiled higgledy piggly in the road.

A verge mower had been along Hwy 28 next to the lake near Deals Gap. Spread grass and chewed up ivy into the road.

Paul,

Good report and great pics! Nasty looking weather for part of that ride, huh... Does that explain your navigation choices, or have you adopted some of my technique...?

This was north of Clayton so I backtracked south and headed west to go north to go east.

Thanks, too, for the update on the new Phillips Motel owner... A very encouraging report on our prospective host! Thanks mostly, however, for not posting a selfie of you in a speedo taking a dip in the Nantahala... very much appreciated!!!   cooldude

DDT

P.S. I also liked those poses of your bike amongst the poseys! Great photography!

I once posted a photo of my bare feet in a stream in Zion National Park. That's the most I've been exposed.

Dude is living in Miss Reba's home / office . Going to be interesting how he handle's folks out front talking loud , laughing , etc in the " after hours " of night ….     Undecided
I've talked to him twice on the phone and I can see a potential problem with this or maybe not    Undecided
Time will tell I guess.
