Kansas City KS

« on: August 15, 2018, 03:30:57 PM »

As you might recall, my wife and I are moving to Kansas City ks , with her mother.

1. There has been a placed contract on the house. Not only that, but the buyer paid for a home inspection PRIOR to making their offer.

2. We went through the "showing" purge, and now we are just about finished with the "moving" purge. Good thing because ..

3. Packers and loaders from the moving company are coming Monday and Tuesday (Aug 20 & 21). Expected delivery is about a week later. This means we get to "camp" in the house until ...

4. Closing is Friday Aug 24.

5. and today, the Valk was picked up and is on its way to KC Embarrassed No more MC rides until we get there (not that there was alot of them any way).

On the plus side - we finally got car #2 back from the shop  smitten  - with the fans and Air Conditioning working properly !!

You'll be happy about that when you get to Kansas City. I lived in the area (Mo. side) for about 10 years.

I grew up in Hutchinson, and my wife and me met at KU in Lawrence. More than once I rode from Lawrence to Hutch and back. Shared a 1972 AMC Gremlin with my youngest brother that didn't have AC either.

I AM looking forward to meeting some of the KC contignent of Valk owners.

Congratulations on nearly successfully negotiating the move. I'm of the mind if I have to move my stuff again I'm just going to have a bonfire.  Smiley

Some kitchen cleanup tonight and I need to locate the blue painters tape to mark "DO NOT PACK / Load" on some stuff tomorrow and Tuesday and we're rolling along.

Moving sucks.... it's one reason we haven't moved in 23 years....

On the plus side - we have REALLY purged things we really didn't need.

On the bonfire - I'd recommend a "fire sale" instead Smiley

Movers have come, packed, and loaded truck. Now we have to cleanup for the buyer (and also get setup for the next couple days since we are "camping" at the house). Camping meaning almost no furniture , a VERY stripped kitchen, a 19 inch CRT TV with satellite. Thursday at 1730 the buyer is doing a walkthrough, and Friday morning at 1000 is closing. We should be in KC Sunday evening, and moving delivery should be Monday or Tuesday. Motorcycle delivery hasn't been set yet.

Life goes on...

I moved a year ago after 40 years in same house. I got rid of 2 24 yard dumpsters full of stuff. Cannot believe the crap I accumulated. I will never do that again. Told my wife my next move will be the cemetary. I am not moving again. Selling a house is a PITA.

Sounds like all is going well, and I wish the best for you. My wife and I just moved 5 hours north of
where we lived for 29 years, and ended up giving our two sons son's lot of tools and different stuff to lighten the load a little. We packed all our stuff ourselves with a little help from our youngest son, and loaded 4, 17' U-Haul truck's one at a time. Load one, drive north, wife and I unload, rent car drive back, load another, drive north, you get the drift. Final load in a 12' U-Haul trailer, me driving, and wife following in car with bike on trailer. Lots of fun. Roll Eyes

All right !

Motorcycle arrived Sunday Morning.

Household goods arrived this morning (Monday), crammed into house.

Started process of address changes on credit  cards. Ordered ANOTHER copy of my birth certificate so I can get a Ks driver's license.

If I ever have to move again, it will be too soon....
