Say What You mean Mean What You Say

Just looking at Hitachi Alternator prices at Ron Ayers
'99 Gl1500A A Goldwing  VS  Valkyrie Interstate:
GW...$245,  Valk...$450...???
Will the '99 Wing unit fit the Valk.
I've read somewhere that the mounting face plate had to be rotated.
Thanks.

The GL1500 Goldwing alternator will fit a original style Valkyrie. The clocking that needs to be done is on the case halves of the alternator. Only 3 bolts to remove and twist to match your failed unit , put the screws back in. Thats from my memory of helping another Valk rider when I loaned a Hitachi to him.

NICE!!
Thanks everyone, I am going to order one up, as I have lost confidence in the shop that did the rebuild last year and I got stranded on my most recent ride. That turned out to be one LONG DAY that I don't want to repeat!!

Turn the plate 120 degrees to match the old one after removing the three screws, then reinstall them.  Just don't pull it all the way off or the brushes will need to be held in place while putting it back together.  It will be obvious when you compare the old with the new.  Piece of cake as they say.

Bought a New Goldwing OEM Hitachi Alternator today...about $391 Canadian Pesos including shipping and customs duty from a Honda Dealer in Troy MI on Ebay. The local Honda Stealer here in Calgary wants $850.!! plus!! another 5% federal sales tax.
