I got out of the car, a question on my lips, already knowing the answer. Already knowing the story that was coming. Already knowing the rest of my day was changing.

I asked it anyway. I didn’t have any choice. “Are you okay?”

Man, that was cold.  Angry she could have been seriously hurt. And evidently he couldn't care less.

Thanks for giving her the ride.  cooldude

I've read enough of your stories to know you are a very good dude.  Carry on!

I spent 26 years in law enforcement and I can tell you that situations like that happen far more than the average person would think. scenarios like that really shake you up, or rather wake you up. The reality is that we want to think of our fellow human beings as people that act just like we would, and unfortunately that is definitely not the case.

Good for you Dan, you were put into that situation for a reason, a glimmer of hope of sorts for that lady. I hope her life returns to normal without that SOB.

I have never heard of that, it is appalling to let another human being suffer like that your wife no less, regardless if you want to separate. Good on you Daniel.

Good for you Dan.  And good that you were there before the ice cream melted.  One could call that “perfect” timing.

It is impossible to understand how other people think and how some get so cruel.  We can, however, do our best to prove by example that good men (people) do still exist.

While the term rat bastard jumps to mind it was NOT the first derogatory term to jump. The ones that showed up first are NOT permitted on our forum. Think it BUT do NOT print it here. You were MEANT to be where you were when you were and do what you did.
2d wife and I were going to her mothers house for supper. Words were coming fast and furious from her pie hole. I was driving and I pulled over to the side and said as near politely as I could-go on over to your parents for supper I'll be fine. I walked back home and cooled off. She had cooled off by the time she got back BUT no/none/nada/zero apology was forthcoming from her.

how some get so cruel

My impression, after reading, was that he was probably selfish and a coward.

O2s's description, though, seems to cover all the bases...

Well heck of a story but not surprised, there are some sorry folks out there for sure. I travel and am surpried that I haven't come upon or recognized a situation like you did DM. You have the love, hope and faith that is recognized by fewer of us than I'd like to think. You handled it like a Man with courage. The situation, time of day that you were there, not a coincidence or happen of circumstance. I do believe  angel and you were an acting angle for her. I'm fairly new on the VRCC but have read some of your other post. I've been to 2 InZane's always riding and missed your service sessions but I'm going to search you out at the next one; planning on going.  Wink God Bless and continue your works.  coolsmiley

I'll try to focus on what I (we ) know and not speculate too much on what  (we) don't know.

Daniel you did very well.  Beyond that your concern and sensitivity caused you to reach out and help when others might have just passed by.

I don't know everything that went into the husband's decision to do what he did.  Chances are good that almost nothing would have justified his driving away between home and goal, especially with her holding two ice creams.  I guess that adds stupidity to arrogance, selfishness and inhumane behavior.

I want to be more like Dan and not like the husband in the story.

Could be all in the perspective though...

Another way to write this up is:

I gave a strange woman a ride for an ice-cream cone...

That might need a little more explanation after the story about picking up the naked girl at the gas station.   Wink

I wonder what goes through peoples heads sometimes.... To leave someone to fend for themselves like that

Great that she got the help that was required.....what if she didn't????

In the last 3 weeks I have had two cars come in that young girls owned, both with malicious damage.... both from their ex's  18-mid 20's at a guess, one of the young lads has now put in a case against the lady police officer for breaching his rights.....little crap

I don't care how the split went when did it come to be the thing to do?

One of the young ladies has changed phones to stop the harassment, seemed like a quiet girl going through hell.

Respect doesn't seem to be in some people genetics
