Upper fork finish

While looking my 99 I/S over tonight I noticed a couple of nicks in the upper forks. Has anyone machined or sanded theirs to give it a polished look? I plan on changing fork springs this winter and figure that would be the time to do it.

I think some people have chromed their front ends.

      You can polish your forks, but the hardest thing about it
  will be getting the coating off first.
   After that it will be the same as polishing any other part
just like our wheels.
