Considering his physical problems the last few years, one couldn't help wonder if he would ever play again. He even said so as recently as a year ago before having 2-3 vertebrae fused. Once recovered, he slowly started back working on his game. It finally all came together this week when he won the Tour Championship in Atlanta, and came close to winning the FedEx Cup(worth $10mil). If one player hadn't got a lucky break on the very last hole and only made par instead of a birdie, Tiger would have won the Cup plus the tournament. The last few months he's been so close, leading or in contention 2-3 times, but just didn't quite put it all together until this week. This win is his 80th tour win, only two behind Sam Snead with 82 who has the record for the most wins. Jack Nicklaus still holds the record of 18 Major wins(Masters, U.S. Open, etc.) Tiger is presently at 14. Tiger and Nicklaus are the only players to have won all four(Grand Slam) three times, with Woods being the only player to win all four major tournaments in a row.

I know a lot of you aren't interested in these stats, and it's not a life changer for me either. I just enjoyed watching him throughout his career whenever I had the time to spare. This week I'm kinda glad I stuck around to check in from time to time and was rather pleased to see the old veteran putting all the youngsters to shame. He's made a marvelous come back from knee operations and I believe four different back operations. At one point he commented he felt he could actually win as many as 20 majors, if he keeps this up next year....I believe he could do it. Should be interesting to watch how he plays in the Ryder Cup next week, and on tour next year. As for my game, I score better by accident than on purpose.....but I get a lot of fresh air, sunshine, wet feet, and spend $$ for new a new grip on my ball retriever about once a season.  Grin  I figure the only way I'd ever beat Tiger would be if he gave me three "gotchas."  You use one on the first tee, then hold off for the next 17.....he would never know when the next one was coming.  Roll Eyes

While I've never been much of a golf fan I Still remember watching the last couple of holes on his Last amateur round before he turned pro. The 2nd ex and I watched as even the commentators were impressed with his shot placement. I did check the leader board a couple of times Saturday but Sunday I wuz busy. RIDE SAFE.

I guess it’s probably good for the game of golf. And I was a big fan of his. But, it’s pretty hard to get behind a guy that did the sort of things to his family that he did. Probably the most talent in the history of golf just wasted in my opinion.

While I recognize his talent, I have never been a fan of golf either. He did screw up in a major way and he paid a hefty price. I am a fan of pulling oneself back up through ones own effort and a fan of redemption which is important for the human condition

I agree, that's kinda where I come from re. Tiger. He had a beautiful wife & kids....great looking family before it all came crashing down around him. With his physical troubles that followed his personal actions, and he now seems to have come full circle, I was glad to see it appears to be behind him now. For the sake of his kids and possibly his new girlfriend, I hope he can now carry on in a respectible manner.

Was just thinking last week after his starting round....how many on the Senior tour will be thinking about retiring when Tiger reaches 50, especially if he keeps playing and improving as he has lately. There's some good Sr. players but few have ever been able to match him when in their heyday. Again, thinking of the Woods/Mickelson winner take all match coming this Thanksgiving, worth $10mil. After this past week, I'm wondering if Phil wants to reconsider. Probably not coming out of either of their pockets anyway.
