Well, much of the road rash dressing is starting to come off so, I don't look nearly as much like a mummy compared to a week ago. Still a lot of scabs but they will come off in their own time. Shattered right wrist was operated on and now weighs about five pounds more than it did. They installed some after market parts. That may be an exaggeration but that is what it feels like. In that the thumb on the right hand is encased in the cast, it's very difficult to do anything that requires an opposable thumb. The broken ribs, clavicle and scapula (all on the left side) make it difficult to do just about anything with my left arm. Took most of the impact on my left shoulder, the muscles on that side are still very swollen and sore. But, I am in good spirits and healing up. I even got a compliment today at ballet class. But that went down hill quickly when I had to request assistance getting out of my tootoo. The real problem is that the brain scan proved the pre-supposed void in my head does actually contain a brain. Now the wife is expecting me to use it! Edited: Thanks for thinking of me. Rams

Sounds like you are on the mend. At least your sense of humor survived the crash. Best wishes and get well soon.

Thanks. The real pain comes when I hobble out to my shop and look at my fat lady..... She brings tears to my eyes. Rams

Granted, you can't do much with her right now, but you could start planning on repairs / ordering parts / dealing with insurance (that last will probably give you some heartburn...)

Good to hear you're healing Ron. Sounds like your sense of humor might have been stimulated by the pain. That's not a bad thing! Hopefully your Valk can be salvaged after you heal.

You’re a tough dude with a great attitude According to my wife, I'm a wuss! She says that every time I wince as she rips the tape off my hide. It wouldn't be all that bad if she would quit laughing as she does it. I'm thinking she's getting even for the last 38 years. Rams

I never broke any ribs when I got hit but the clavicle and scapula took a beating along with my back and neck. ( got hit in the hind end) Makes it just plain hard to do anything. I had a bunch of road rash and that was just plain annoying. But it will slowly get better. Don't pick at it! You are on the mend, just not as fast as you would like to be. It seems like it takes forever! As much as we would like to, don't push it and things will turn around sooner. I'm glad you are with us, that's the bottom line! Oh, the metal detector at the airport will go off. Hang in there, be good to yourself. I think about what "coulda been" and am happy it ended the way it did. It will make you feel better that way.

Not so. I can attest that titanium does not set off the detector. If your replacement stuff is alarming the metal detector it means they used the cheap stuff. Good to hear you're getting better, Ron. Right hand and left side injuries are restricting. Most of the folks here don't want to know when you're able to wipe your own ass.

I visited Ron last Saturday and he is hurting but in excellent spirits. I took some photos, but cannot upload to Photostash. (If anyone can help, I will forward you the photos for uploading. Send me a PM) Most of the damage is to the front. The obvious are the fender, headlight, instruments (Motosens gauges--nice), windshield, tank. He also broke the timing belt cover, the bracket that it attached to, the left side head cover, crash bars, highway pegs. The forks looked OK but I am sure there is a way to confirm. Other scratches on bag rails, one bag cover was torn of but rear damage was minimal.
He told me Mitch was going to look at it and offer opinion and suggestion.

Thanks Carl, getting better every day. Reference notification of the previously mentioned event, I was considering using the new Presidential Alert System to let everyone know when I am able to accomplish the particular feat but will reconsider based on your recommendation. Let there be no doubt, this has been a very humbling situation. Thanks for all the notes of concern, it has been heart warming. Rams

Rams just let her know the male body has less pain nerve endings in our skin than woman do. That's why when we are working all day and later on we see dried blood on us somewhere and look for the cut and find it and we say "when did I do that". woman would have already been at the doctors after the first scratch getting stitched up. So let her know that if u ever have to pull tape off her, u will remind her what she is doing to you now. So glad you are getting better Rams. God Bless. more AGATT next ride.
