Who on this website is the OLDEST VALKYRIE RIDER on this website?     Not the oldest "Poster" on the site but the oldest rider who is still able to ride their Valkyrie.  I am 68 and hope I still have some riding years left.  So who is the oldest Valkyrie Rider here?

With all due respect, I don't think you're close :)

Robert

While he does not ride anymore I believe Solo1 is the winner actually for age of riding.

72 and I only ride about 16,000 miles a year on two wheels.  Its dropped since I retired. :(

My guess would be that John Schmidt and Daniel's pa-in-law are definitely in the running.

Though a full decade short of even being close to being in contention for this most admirable distinction, there are times such as after doing a dawn to dusk run where I've FELT like I should be in contention  ;)
My goal is to keep riding until 2036...

Actually, before I retired it was over 20,000 a year on two wheels.  But now, not much casual riding.  I try and take as many trips (3 or more days) as possible.  Have an upcoming trip to Arkansas that is 2,300 miles and one this weekend thats about 750 miles and one out west (next summer) that's about 6,500 miles.

I need a few more :)

Thats great that you have the time to do all that riding.   I'm retired and between going to 4 gkids school functions and keeping my place up I don't get to do as much riding as I would like.    However the wife and I have taken 2 long trips this year , not on the bike..

When InZane was in Ashville, Daniel's FIL carded a year older than me. Don't know if it's a full year, not  important, just know at the time we two were the only riders left standing when the age bracket went to 75 and over. I had planned to ride to Roanoke(only 725 miles one way) this year but other responsibilities took precedence. Would have been 80 at the time. I don't ride daily 'cuz I can't leave when I want to, plus cooler weather is on the way so it will be more inviting. I still get out a couple times a week on average and thankful for the time, but the annual mileage is nowhere near what it was 7-8 years ago....responsibilities were different then.

Glad you are still riding.

On my way to the Eureka Springs Inzane in 2012, I stopped for gas east of Tulsa.  A cashier mentioned something about Bill, who was 87 and still riding.  I saw him in the parking lot and we started talking.

He was riding a 1200 Goldwing.  He'd ridden many hundreds of thousands of miles in his lifetime.  He said he used to have lots of riding buddies but they had all passed away, so he usually rode solo these days.  He was on one of his usual rides, to Locust Grove for 'dinner', or lunch where I come from.  I asked to ride along and he led the way.  He rode very well, especially for 87!

We pulled over before parting ways and I snapped this photo:

You meet the nicest people when you ride a motorcycle. Will never forget a couple I met some years ago in Yellowstone riding a Harley trike. They were in their early eighties about that time. I asked them where they were going and they said they had been wondering the west for 6 weeks. I thought that was just about the greatest thing I could do when I retire. I think about them often and in a few more years I plan to do the same thing. Plan a trip but not a destination, just a direction.....
