So I am in need of a new front tire..currently have E3s front and back and not real happy w them..want to go w/ Avon Cobras..the rear tire has a lot of life left..I have always heard to keep your tires matched but I am wondering just how bad it would be to run the Cobra front w/ the E3 rear?

There would be no noticeable problem. I have an avon on fornt and a dunflop on the rear of mine. Only reason for dunflop is I was out of town on a trip and needed a rear and all the dealer had was a Dunflop.

yeah it won't be a problem. The only problem I've ever had mixing tire brands is that I recently put a Shinko on for my rear tire and because of its tread pattern it vibrates. No more Shinkos for me. I'll either buy a Dunlop or Avon or Metzler or even a Bridgestone, none of which have ever given me troubles

Same observation as Tfrank59. The tire pattern is what's always affected my ride. Never had a problem mixing brands.

Talk about "mismatched tires", Those of us that run radial CT tires on rear and Belted MC tires on the front.  Some even run rear belted tires on the front.   Works great.
