Jack lives in a field on Warwoman Rd with some cows. He's a coyote donkey there to protect the calves.

Yesterday was the sixth time I've been to feed Jack some carrots. Each time I have been on my bike. By the time I removed my helmet yesterday Jack was braying and walking towards the field gate. He's a character. Until he's been fed and until I've shown him my empty hands there's no touching Jack.

Whatever it is, it's better in the wind.

On a road less traveled.

Carolyn would be mad if passing strangers fed her horse over the fence...
you should work to meet Jack's owners to ensure your continued friendship
with Jack...

That sounds like good advice.  There may even be local ordinances about feeding other peoples farm animals..... and trespass.

Also, it's my experience that horses, mules, and donkeys don't always know (or care) where the carrot ends and the fingers begin.

While the advice on feeding is right, I have often wanted to do the same thing but hesitated, because of that same reason.

But that is really cool to have the new friend like that. Its amazing the personalities that animals have and they are not so stupid. He made you feed him first before he would let you pet him. Do you jump through hoops too  2funny 2funny  Wink

Thanks for the pictures, I loved it.  cooldude

Already done that.

Elderly couple who inherited Jack from a local car dealer.

He's a bit of a celebrity in Clayton. Has been seen with young women who dress him in straw hats so as to take group photos.

He's very gentle. Not a grabber or snatcher.

Funny Paul, my mother feeds a donkey named Jack on her walks. Similar behavior, has her trained.

Hers keeps the bears at bay, up in the Pa mountains not very far from IZ16 GZ.
She got upset that the donkey had died (or something) until another local farmer told her that he had borrowed it for his field of calves.

She added a mile to her walk that spring. I’ll have to ask her about that donkey.

Nice pictures.
