Try this on fer size. We've run out of gasoline and diesel. The power and the water are shut off. The grocery stores are shuttered and out of food. It's the worst winter on record. Armageddon will make black Friday look like recess at grade school. And I have zero/none/nada/NO plans to git any where Near ANY retailer today or on cyber Monday. Far far TOO many dumb asses out there. A also blame the retailers for only having too few of any item deemed a bargain by the mouth droolers. MAYBE the mouth droolers injured because of too few bargains need to file lawsuits for the injuries? RIDE SAFE.

My wife and daughter go shopping after Thanksgiving every year. It’s the last thing I would want to do. But for some reason they enjoy it. I’ve never seen either drool in close to 40 years though.

Do they fight over supposed bargains?

I do hope not.

I don't go to any black Friday sales.  (only ever shop at the least crowded times anyway)

If I want that kind of entertainment I can just turn on WWE Wrestling.

Mrs. Meathead and I went out for Chinese while in Roanoke, I saw no drooling.
Can’t speak for the daughter though...

My wife works at Walmart and she got lucky. She got done work at 6 when the mad house started and she has off today and to marrow. I walked around the store for just about a half hr. To see if I knew of the crazed shoppers. We left right away but it looked like it was going to be a real zoo. Kindness goes a long way in a situation like that.

Most years I go out that thursday night when stores open up.  ONLY ONE instance in Madison WI in the 1990s when I was in or near brawling stage due to A-holes behind me got OUT of line to get voucher coupons for a laptop I wanted.  Fist were going to fly and blame the Best Buy hand out person for NOT taking charge and telling them all to go back in line while we were sitting OUTSIDE for 4 hours prior to opening in 30 degree temps.  I vowed to NEVER do that again EVER, especially in Madison and at Best Buy.

I stay local in smaller town less A-holes and never had one instance of hostility or people being jerks whether farm and fleet, walmart, or shopko, etc.  Madison WI is another story all together way too many jerks in that big town.

I guess one item in stores locally ran out Thursday night and people were pissed being the PS4 with spiderman with gaming console for 199.  Walmart got more in since I called yesterday but those 21 got sold ASAP as well.  OH well, can live without and just go ONLINE like we ALL should on cyber Monday.

BEST thing to do is to go ONLINE anyways that Thursday night and select order to pickup in store.  95% of the time unless in store only doorbuster deals mostly Best Buy does that to piss people off having like 20 of one good deal when 150 are standing in line for the same thing so they can make more money since most buy the next cheapest laptop/deal, etc.  Not a huge best buy fan.

My daughter works at Target and the good she worked that Thurssday but from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. in the morning on Friday to restock items.  She missed the mad rush from say Thursday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.. but having to restock and get things all straightened out for the next day is not good either, just dealing with A-holes is almost non existent which is good.    Another good thing is we as family members not only get the 5% redcard discount, but 10% off all other purchases as well, win win for now until she graduates college and gets a full time job.

We do all of our shopping online. The deals are just as good, in some cases better, and I can do it a few days before, and several weeks after the big rush. Delivered to the door, in two days. No muss, no fuss cooldude

Online shopping is or has become huge. We even have people who buy their groceries online and are delivered.

Yah,  last year was the first year I heard of ordering groceries or even dept. store items online and the store has it picked and ready for you to pickup at a set time.  NOW delivery too, that is insane!!!

We have ordered them and went to pick them up, and they loaded them in the car...we were both sick as dogs but needed to get some shopping

Can't find a Vendor at a Rally, online shopping has ended that.  In the future years there won't be any stores to run to and get last minute items.  You will have to plan ahead so you can wait 2 days for delivery.

Maybe. It’s hard to predict the future though. I remember 40 years ago old timers telling me that there was no future as a meatcutter. That all of it would be done and packaged at big plants by automation. Some of it is (Walmart) But the majority is pretty close to 50 years ago. Don’t get me wrong , there have been plenty of changes. Just not the ones predicted.

All small stores will be gone, only the biggest will remain. Wal-mart, and Kroger. Walmart does its share of selling online. There will always be a need for brick and mortar stores.

I am a capitalist, and support big stores for value, selection and convenience.

BUT if you want your small (local) stores to continue to exist, it's good to support them with (some of) your business.

Especially local gun shops, who just can't compete with on-line and gun shows.

Same day delivery is already an option in most of the country, and same hour delivery is available in some areas, and will expand.

I try to support local independents, I'll generally give 'em a 20% fudge factor on price when possible, but when the local is $500 and online is $150, I just can't justify buying local.

(I do have a personal policy that if I go to a physical store to try on an item, if I buy it, I buy it from the place I tried it on at (Thinking helmets) not online.)

On the other hand, if I go to a small shop looking for something and they don't have it in stock, but offer to order it for me.... well, thanks, but I can do that myself...
