Its time for new tires before spring thinking about Shinko SE890 before summer.
And im tired of spending that much money on Dunlaps.
Has anyone had experience with this tire?

Thanks for any input on this.

Yes. Some like them. Many hate them. I'll never use them again, regardless of their price.

Had one on the front-I've been D/S fer years-and liked it rain or shine. Currently on a Shinko 777 white wall in 140-80-17. Had both the 890 and 777 been thru a couple of toad drowners and NEVER felt like the tire was lettin me down. Can't recollect which one I rode the Dragon with-the 890 or the 777 but I remember other than hitting some sand washed onto the road from the rain and slippin a bit-no other issues. I use good ole Daisy steel BBs for a balancing agent and would have zero issues with pushing to the ton or beyond with the 777 that's currently leadin the way!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Until I changed to a Champiro VP1 for a Valkyrie rear tire I used the Journey, front and back, on my ST1300 for over 100,000 miles and on my current Valkyrie for about 40,000 miles.

I would rather use the Champiro on the Valkyrie rear for longevity. 13,000 miles compared to about 8 - 9,000 miles plus the lower cost.

I've ran several sets of them on the front and rear.

My only complaint has been low mileage out of the rears (6-8k mi).

I have purchased them as low as $130, so overall cost is still lower but you end up changing tires more often.

My current rear tire is A Michelin Commander II 180-65/16.

It's wearing very well. but the increase in RPM's is noticeable.

While I still haven't found the perfect rear tire, I have found the Shinko 230 Tourmaster to be an exellent front tire.

I have zero complaints and I have gotten them for under $100.

Shinko SE890 150/80-17 front...17,224 miles with plenty of tread left, but they are cupping enough to make noise.
Shinko SE890 180/70-16 rear....15736 miles close to worn out...maybe another 1500 usable miles left.
I've had zero problems with these tires. They track very well on both flat and rough/patched pavement. ..however they don't like tar snakes.
I am about to order another set from a Canadian Distributor..about $250(US)total for the pair shipped to my door.
I don't recommend anything, but my positive experience of riding on these for 2+ years may speak for itself.

Just put the TourMaster front on my 99 tour and my 99 interstate. Have about 1,000 good test miles, rain, mountains, curves and no complaints. Run 205 65 D/S on the rear and these Shinkos seem to work well with this set up. Can't remember, but think it was about $100 from Tire Rack

agree on getting the shinko 230 tourmaster for front tire for sure over the shinko front SE890 Journey.  Is cheaper and works well very good tire IMO for front tire anyways.  My rear shinko SE890 Journey will last same as my old Avon Cobra did guessing 9000 miles or so for rear tire.  Why spend more on Avon or Dunlop or Metzeler when they will not last any longer and offer same traction IMO?  Besides rear car tire,  I have heard the Michelin rear tire will last longer though but at near double the cost, is it worth it?  Doubt it will last double the mileage, but will last longer for sure.

Not sure what rear tire I will get next am due for one after next riding season for sure.  Have heard Pirelli and Bridgestone will not last any longer as well as Dunlop, Metzeler, and Avon.  I cannot believe hardly that any rear cycle tire will last much over 10-12000 miles of easy straight road riding on our heavy, powerful machines, besides maybe Michelins.

VRCC member Wingman had a almost new Stinko on his bike at the top of Mt. Mitchell we was looking at it splitting apart. I wouldn't have one on my bike if they gave them to me with free mounting . For the record I feel the same way about Dunflops.

I had an 890 on the front of mine. With between 4000 and 5000 on it the tire separated and a big bulge popped out. At least it did not just blow. Contacted Shinko and they sent me a new one, no questions asked. Am leery of it but I am also keeping a close eye on it.
