Back at the beginning of October I started feeling kind of peaked... by
the Fall Color Ride, I felt icky, I left and went home in the rain on
Saturday morning... a week or so later I backed out on an awesome
ride with Punisher west of  the Mississippi River, and went to see the
Doctor. Lots of probes and numerous visits to different probers came
up with me being the picture of health... along the way my GP
surmised (ie - no data, just my green disposition and loss of weight)
that I had GERD and started me on a proton blocker. I started feeling
better. It takes several weeks to get a probe scheduled, today I
went in for an endoscopic exam (teevee camera down the throat).
Turns out I have a Hiatal hernia, so that's way better than some of
those other things they checked for... the wiki page
says there's numerous types and that "Hiatal hernia has often been
called the 'great mimic' because its symptoms can resemble many
disorders".  I'll learn more when I go back for my follow up...
so that's one plumbing story.

I've been working on the kitchen sink for the last few days,
it is cast iron. But see? I'm careful about lifting heavy stuff...

That's the second plumbing story...

A couple of weeks ago an adjustment to the yard hydrant turned into
me having to dig out this worthless gate valve
I put in 25 years ago... I put in a nice brass ball valve with a
lever. While the gate valve was busted, the nearest place
to turn off water to the house was about 100 yards away...

That's the third plumbing story... I hope that stuff really does
come only in threes  cooldude ...

Why didn't you just use an engine hoist like (I assume) most good plumbers would?  2funny

I just put in 1,000 feet of new PEX waterline my old one had been there since 1968 and had busted 3 times in the last year and a half. The man that helped me suggested I put my outside water spicket  on the mainline before the shut-off and pressure reducer valve. I can spray water to South Carolina now.
Wishing you the best my friend  cooldude

I had a phone person call me one time asking if I wanted to contribute to the floods in Pakistan? I said I would love to but my hose wont reach that far. He hung up.

That's plumbing related.  Wink

I hope you get fixed up Mike.   cooldude (diet, smaller meals and timing, antacids, surgery)

I had the TV camera up the nose and down the throat two years ago.  He said I had an allergy.  I never had any allergy before, and I'm still not sure I have an allergy.  My doctor looked 14 years old and it's hard to take 14yo's seriously.

Hiatal hernia isn't usually aggravated by lifting like an Inguinal hernia (I had surgery at 4yo for mine).

After a week in a big pediatric ward full of kids, I came home with a bunch of new words I'd never heard or used before.  Mom washed my mouth out with soap (really), so I had to stop using those words.
