Anybody have any firsthand knowledge of these vehicles ? We are planning on retiring in a couple years and spending the summers in Alaska. I've been looking at UTV's for some fun and light work while there. I came across these and they are intriguing in that the cab is completely enclosed. I was mostly wondering if a person put ATV tires and lifted it a little, if that would be too much for the little 660 cc engine ?

probably be fine my guess, but is that mfg. worldwide known and available parts in business a very long time as well?   Being in Alaska,  an enclosed heated cab would be important probably but you can get a UTV 4 or 6 seater enclosed heated cab as well with bigger engine, more power and off road capability, for not much more thinking Polaris Ranger or Yamaha Viking come to mind off hand.  

IMO,  a 500cc engine will do anything an 800cc ATV will do, just not as fast as all since own both.  I would opt though in a larger UTV type vehicle 800-1000cc though since heavier machine than an ATV weighing 800lbs.  depending on off road vs. on road use,  you can also equip UTVs with ON road tires with turn signals that will make the tires last much, much longer.  one thing I know is off road ATV tires do not last very long on pavement.

It looks as if it probably was imported here from Japan... their "EPA"
laws are so strict that they sell off all their vehicles *before* anything
goes wrong with them (or something like that)... it's probably like a new one...

The Suzuki version is quite common here as farm hacks.... I have seen some lifted with mud tires, not a lot of cab room for bigger people....

It's too bad Suzuki wouldn't sell their Jimny in North America. Small, solid axles, simple, basic, and the price of a side x side. They've sold millions around the world but won't sell them in NA.

I think the real question here is why would anyone want to move to Alaska?  It's way to cold for me!

It's pretty nice in the summertime. We will be back here for the winters.

My neighbor has one. I borrow it on ocassion. Moving or parking horizontal on a fairly steep grade is risky because of the narrow wheel base, can roll over. Other than that they are pretty much bullet proof as long as long as it's maintained.

I drove and rode in them while stationed in Japan, they were OK for what they were, underpowered and cramped.  I considered one few years ago when I bought my Kawasaki Mule 4010, after 5 years I wouldn't trade my mule for one.  You can get cab enclosures for most all UTV's.  Search for "japanese mini trucks", you'll find lots of folks importing them, often the same folks who import Yanmar Japanese tractors.  If you get ambitious you can import a container of them, 6-8, and pay for yours.  And they"re not street legal.

makes it even more tip prone and even more under powered. 
Just get a polaris ranger, those things go anywhere.

I have no experience with these, so can't speak to it being tip-prone, but the little reading I did about the Acty told me the Attack version has extra low gears, giving it sufficient oomph for getting heavier loads moving.  I didn't find out if this is accomplished through the transmission, the transfer case (if it has one), or the differentials, so I don't know if this feature lowered the top speed.  Probably not the choice of vehicle for highway driving, anyway.
