I knew some of the problems of the chicken industry but this video about Costco and the whole industry is really interesting. I never knew the amount of chickens sold or that chicken was considered a luxury food in times past.

Why Is Costco Opening Its Own Chicken Farm?

It will add 1.2 billion to Nebraska's bottom line.

I know that I eat a lot more chicken than anything else.

Chicken farms are big business in NC for sure.

If I had to smell them everyday I probably wouldn't eat so much chicken.

I would think chicken is the number one meat eaten and produced in America, especially now that the price of beef has risen drastically in stores.  Aldi (smaller global grocery store) has chicken breasts boneless all the time for around 1.69 per lb. as well as the tenderloins around 2.00 per lb., and frozen breasts have seen all the time as well as .99 cents per lb.    Hard to beat that in terms of cheap meats.
