A couple of months ago I replaced my iphone 5 with a 7.

A few minutes ago I vacuumed up the earbuds that came with the phone. Pretty well demolished them.
They were the hard plastic ones that fit in the earcanal. They got great sound but are a pain for me to insert and stay put.  Any kinda of movement they'll either back out or fall out. And if they do stay after about 15-20 minutes my ear starts to hurt like the buds are too big.
Maybe I'm not installing them correctly, don't know...

Any suggestions of good sounding earphones or buds that are comfortable?
Wired or wireless?

I mainly use these when I lay down to go to sleep and I can't fall asleep. Usually 15-20 minutes of Pandora puts me to sleep. (provided the earbuds don't mess with me)

I hate to say it but the Airpods from Apple being wireless are the way to go. They do make cheaper wireless ear buds but these stay in the ear, have good sound, last a long time, have no wire and sync up really easily and you can make calls and on them. They fit in the ear really nicely and dont fall out and dont make it feel like you have anything in your ear either. I have used them when doing the lawn and worked up a good sweat and they kept right on with no problems. They come with their own holder that acts as a charger so all you do is insert them into the case and it charges the ear buds. Then at the end of the day plug the case in and your good to go.

If you do fall asleep with them in the worst they will do is fall out and I would think they are vacuum safe also since they are pretty sturdy.

Didnt know if you used them all the time but these or something like them may be an option also

I have used these (they actual style has changed over this period of time) for some 10 plus years.

https://earinc.com/product/iplugz-gen-ii/

Drawbacks are, the price and they are wired.  I only wear them on the bike so, never tired to sleep with them.  Never had them come out putting on or taking off the helmet.  But the wires might get in your way sleeping but you did say wired was an option.

Another option, that I use when I need ear protection but when to hear music or iHeart is,

They are comfortable and not very costly for what they do.  But don't know if I could sleep with them on.

Not suggesting that these are "great" for your needs but they are products I would recommend for listening to music, ect. without affecting those around you.
