Wow, I haven't rode in a small plane.
Glad that worked for you.

Bet it ran rough that way.  They run smoother if that thing lying on the ground is bolted on.

Hey RP,, that round thing holding that other thing just off the ground looks brand new doesn't it?? Well, that cuz it was.. This monster just came out of an annual in which the right engine outboard exhaust manifold was replaced..Apparently they loosened the cylinder retainers to allow for some wiggle room with the manifold and some how forgot to re- tighten them..  While climbing thru 7000ft in solid IMC taking some folks to Boston it decided to let go.. The flames were 3-4 ft high and trailing behind the wing.. I think you know where the main fuel tank is, the fill cap is just out of view..Couldn't get the fire out until the fuel to that engine was shut-off.. 4000ft was lost trying regain control of the aircraft.. Flew an approach to just below minimums.. The police and fire trucks were already there and waiting outside the newly installed FAA mandated fence and they had to be let in once out of the aircraft as the airport was vacant.. Its back flying though..

You must be one hekuva pilot to get that plane down. Very impressive.

I saw an Aztec several years back where one prop threw a blade and the pilot was right on top of it and shut the engine down.  On the post landing inspection when they started taking the cowling off, the engine fell off.  Aparently, in the few seconds between the blade separation and engine shutdown, it had sheared the mount!

That guy was 'right on top of it' !! He had to have acted quickly..  I've heard of others that weren't so quick and the engine left the airframe, so no one survived.. That kinda screws up the CG..
