This is what 18 year old "kids" were doing in 1944. No safe spaces, no hurtful unthinkable remarks that they couldn't cope with, just dying for their country so the ungrateful, uninformed snowflakes of today could act like fools decades later.............. This 2 minute video is pretty moving. Worth your while. "What actually made this country great is ordinary guys like this doing extraordinary things." Thanks to all the men, women, families, past and present, who put their lives on the line to protect our freedom. https://www.youtube.com/embed/jpt6Bvr2L-s?rel=0&controls=0&showinf

In 1944 my Dad was 21 year old Staff Sergeant in the USMC on Kwajalein Atoll. I have a photo of him sitting on the track of a knocked-out Japanese tank, I think it was a Type 95. He passed away in 1985...... and Boy, do I miss him!
Thank you for the link to the video. Tears in my eyes.

Not all later generations have forgotten who they have to thank for the freedoms they have but, many have and don't appreciate the Warriors of the past for what they have today.
I shudder to think what it will take for them to realize that freedom isn't free.

I was out and about yesterday after Church and stopped at a major home improvement store for some "stuff". They had free popcorn for Chicago Bears fans and the Nice Lady and I started a conversation. Had my Navy Vietnam ball cap on and Nice Lady thanked me for my Service. She informed me Her Husband had served and I said to thank him for his Service. Mentioned to her that we were planning on watching the Bears/Eagles game But overall was NOT happy with the n f l for the shennannigins going on during Our National Anthem. Nice Lady informed me Politely that her Husband and i had served so the idiots amongst us could in Fact be as Stupid as they wanted to under Our Constitution. While I Still am NOT Happy with the disrespect Nice Lady said Her Husband while also NOT Happy with the disrespect pointed out it IS Their Right under Our Constitution too be THAT Stupid. I have a small tiny idea of what was done in video after serving on a U S Navy Aircraft Carrier and I had tears in my eyes after watching. At the Very Least his Pilot got the bird back to Their Ship for a Proper burial at sea. Some Naval air crew were Never found. My Granddaughter is back on duty today in the U S Air Force. She is 27 a Captain and recipient of the Bronze Star after her Combat Tour in the sand box-Afghanistan. RIDE SAFE.

I know my Dad went in to the Navy in April of 1941. Think his timing was not too good depending on how you look at it. Finished his schooling and got sent to San Diego. Then in February of 42 as Dad puts it, a squared jaw guy in a green uniform turned to about ten of us and said, you, you and you come with me you are now with the Marines. Well as the story goes he got sent on what he called a wonderful island vacationwiththe 1st Marines.. Ya the kids then sure skipped being kids and became adults quite fast.

There’s a good documentary on History Channel right now that tells the stories of young men, mostly former military from different countries that are in Syria and Iraq fighting ISIS with the Kurds. Not getting paid but doing it because they feel strongly about eliminating them. Good show.

Another good series on Netflix right now, I have watched two episodes. Each one is about a particular Medal of Honor winner and their life story. There is one whole season available to watch.
