I hear they put small oil tanks under the bike with a small drip valve. Of course this said tank is refillable. Also comes with a sound system that only plays 2 cylinder sounds.

Kinda cool, for what it is. Since it'll obviously be a low volume product (even at half that price) they may as well price it accordingly for all the well-heeled folks who'll want to be seen on it. Compared to electric bikes 10 years ago, this is a big step forward. For a commuter bike, going 40-50 miles each way to work, it could be great fun, and you wouldn't need a plug-in at work, key for selling to folks without free unicorn outlets. Charge it overnight at your own place and it's ready in the morning. Probably the best thing about an electric is very low maint costs and no seasonal storage hassles, oil changes, and other costs for us northerners. It's not in my future, but at least they'll be able to sell 'em in Cancerfornia when fossil fuels can only be burned in power plants and important people's jets  Roll Eyes

If they expect to sell these to their base, they're going to have to figure out a way for them to leak a little oil.

You know, just a little one cup reservoir down low with a pin hole in it.   Roll Eyes Grin

They're not expecting to sell them to their base, which is good.

I heard that HD stock was tanking, and thought about buying some shares just in case they really do recover. BTW, I'm no trader by any means. What say y'all?

I'm no trader either. But I'd say there are many better places to invest.

Absolutely.  I'd say a poker game is a better investment.   Grin

I've done no research on H-D stock, can only say that stock prices often have little direct correlation to where the company is at. Harley, lately, has often (IMHO) worked harder on making the stock valuable than they have the machines, so some people have done well with stock they bought say, 10 years ago. There's an old stock market adage about, "never try to catch a falling knife" that may really apply here. Right now, short term, you'd be better off buying 6 month CDs. In amounts of $250k or less, they're insured, and in $200k & up amounts your broker should easily be able to get you 2.3% or better where it was only 1.6% earlier this year. If you're young enough to handle long term risk, even a fund that mirrors the S&P 500 would probably be better than H-D, but I'm just guessing. Got garage space? Probably more fun to "invest" here; https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2019/01/07/best-collector-cars-to-buy-now-2019-bull-market-list?utm_source=SFMC&utm_medium=email&utm_content=19_January_9_HagertyNews

Decent 26" wheel, foldable for putting in the trunk of the suv, electric bikes can be had for under $300.

Been thinking about getting one in my old age

15   miles on a charge is not a lot but how often am I 15 miles from home on a bike anyway.
