been thinking the same thing the past few weeks.  Sucks in morning is dark until after 7 a.m. on the road leaving before then and then leaving around 4:45 also starting to get dark.  By the time I get home around 5:15 to 5:30,  it is pitch black all over again.  Is the worst time for deer runs as well in that early morning and early evening hours.  I swear since I already hit one in February and near missed a few others since then,  those deer gotta go!  If it was not so dark alongside the roads at those times,  I might be able to swerve or slow down quicker when they cross the roads.  Every week I see one cross the road enough so where I know the 3-4 spots they usually do it at that time of the day/night.  I cringe now when I see them grazing in the fields alongside the road usually 3-5 of them not too far off the road.

Yep,  is the worst time of the year IMO also dark and gloomy usually not much sun, not like I see ever much of it.  I miss wearing my sunglasses driving like I use to do except this time of the year.

The deer are a problem here also but I have a greater fear of hitting a hog.  Here in southern Tx there are a lot of hogs running around and mostly at night .   Most of them are 100 - 300 lbs.   Haven't heard of any motorcycles hitting a hog but I think it would be like hitting a brick wall.   I have hit two in my truck in the last 5 yrs, luckily they were small ones.

I’m having an issue with my move in that one house is in the central time zone and the new residence is in the eastern time zone. I’m just glad that the days are starting to get a little longer. Really looking forward to spring this year.

Could be worse.  Last January my son spent some time working on the North Slope near Deadhorse, AK.  I just checked and they last saw the sun on November 25th.  It will finally rise again on January 19th.  That would drive me crazy.

It’s not so bad. You get used to it. Or, at least most do. Some do go into a deep depression though. They have some high intensity lights they sit in front of to help with it.

Easy for you to say. Down where you live the sunset is nearly 6 pm!
