Yeah; I thought this was going to be about bolts that wouldn't come out, but I was also incorrect. I did see the two forum threads locked when I logged on last night, so I guess it's my fault for not putting 2 and 2 together.

As we auto techs joke, cross-threading beats Loctite 10 to 1.

Tighten until you hear a crack, back off quarter turn.

When I started in the business, my first dealership was a Nissan/Jeep/Eagle/Renault dealership. Yes, Renault. We had a similar one that we used to call French torque. Tighten it til it strips; then back it off half a turn.

See my post above.  I generally don't bother with an explanation.  I never bother with the explanation twice.   Wink

I get it, just don't see any of the reasons in that thread.  I found it mostly recollection of past experiences with some advice thrown in.   But, I'm not a moderator here, or any where.

As a recently certified municipal building inspector, I wanted to add some comments.

Thanks for all you do Willow.

You don't see them because I deleted them.  My normal practice is that I reach a point of locking after I have repeatedly removed posts due to ridiculing names and personal attacks.

I don't have another job these days but I choose not to devote all of my time doing this one.   Smiley

I didn't see any reason either and I don't recall any name calling or whatever. Mind you, I'm usually on here late and am tired, so maybe I didn't notice.

One thing for sure.......till now on any forum, I had never been a participant on a thread that got locked! Do I win a prize???  2funny

So, in hindsight it is evidently poor grammar that gets CA pulled ?  Grin

Thanks Rob and yes, that guy.  The testing is a lot of work.  I started as a part time, 2 days a week, assistant "local inspector" inspecting 3 + family buildings and annual inspection of assembly buildings (businesses, churches, schools, etc) in Southbridge, a town near by.

When a small town just south of mine, Wales, advertised for a Building Commissioner, I applied and got the job.

I like it, I get to use the decades of experience I have, without actually putting nails in wood. Smiley

I’m glad for you Bill  cooldude I’m sure the decades of construction work takes a toll on the body. (Now I can refer to you as one of those government workers)  Grin
