My grandmother had a housekeeper come in twice a week for at least 30 years that I know of. I don't imagine she paid Maria much, being that they lived 10 miles from the border and Maria being an illegal. We've never had one and I don't know I'd want somebody with free range like Maria did. But......I went out and straightened up my garage today. I'm pretty bad about leaving my tools out and such on projects. After several little things and replacing the damper plate in my clutch recently, it had piled up too much.
I wonder if there are people that clean garages on a regular basis ? And what is the going rate ? I've heard tale of services where good looking women come over and clean your house while in lingerie. I was thinking of a startup with this business model for garages. But I'm unsure of a couple things. What rate should this be charged at ? And how little can I pay the young women ? Do I need to deduct for Social Security taxes ? Any ideas for a catchy business name ?

I’m sure the going rate is in direct relation to the amount of clothes worn and the body shape inside them. In a big market I’m sure you could name your own price, especially if you are out there first.

No idea but, (IMHO) illegal alien employers need to be prosecuted and jailed.   Consider that before you hire.

My grandmother has been gone for many moons. I don't think she can be extradited from heaven.  coolsmiley It was a joke. Were I to attempt this business venture, I would likely employ 57 year old Jewish ladies. (You've got to think of your targeted market)

I'd stick to that story.  The implication did not mention old Jewish ladies.

Routine house cleaning is one thing, but I don't want anyone in my garage (sheds).

A place for everything and everything in it's place is a real plan.  I know where almost every single thing I might want or need is, and it needs to stay that way.

House cleaning I do every few months, whether it needs it or not.  Grin  (Hey, who moved my dust?)

In all seriousness, I don't want strangers in my house.

I don't know. Is there a community of illegal Jewish immigrants I can exploit ?

There was a TV show on where a crew would come in and totally clean out your garage in exchange for the contents.  I don't think you would want to lose the Valkyrie or any other nice toys to that but it was interesting to see what people would squirrel away.

I have a few things still in the wrapping paper the Air Force used to pack me out, when I separated in 1992.  Backpacking gear, frames, stove.  What am I going to do, throw it away?  It stays clean this way.

But on this subject, a nice young couple (maybe 30) bought the house across from me last year, and they both work, but only one car.  He liked my bikes, and said he had his MC license, and was going to get one.  Suddenly a month ago, a perfect (barely) used Suzuki CT50 showed up in his driveway, and he was riding to work at O'dark thirty every morning in frigid weather and home after dark.

I went over to see it and helped him with his seat and battery charger and offered him an old cover.  I asked him if this was a deal where to convince the wife he needed a bike, he said he would ride it to work year round, and then did (in the teens every day)?  He mumbled it was something like that.   Grin

Now this guy is nearly the identical size I was at 30 (before the expanding middle of my 50-60's), so now he has my old (but good) down jacket and vest liners, flannel lined Carhart jeans, insulated over-pants, hi tech long johns, winter gauntlets, heavy denim shirt, and even a Turk calf-skin jacket for his wife.  I was glad to help, it wasn't like I was likely to shrink into any of this stuff, and I have plenty of gear that actually fits.  Paying it forward is a good thing.

As for someone cleaning the garage, I have enough trouble finding the stuff I put away. If i had someone else do it, I would never find anything. Smiley

If one of the above services were cheap enough, I would like the to come and remove the dirt/dust from my garage floor (no tools or parts on the floor) will I watch.

In my prime, I use to have problems watching folks work, always ended up in giving them a hand.  Now that I am older, I can just sit and watch them work, especially younger folks.
