backfires begginging to bug me

Help!!! I'm tired of making popcorn.   I installed cobra pipes about a month ago and they still backfire. New exhaust rings were installed. I have not rejetted. Any  Ideas??  01 standard

If u have no vacuum leaks, then when shutting the throttle down during decel backfiring is caused by the idle screws too lean. open them up 1/2 turn at a time.

If the popcorn effect occurred immediately following the exhaust change-out and nothing else was done, I would bet you may not be squarely seated against the gaskets. There's a sequence to drawing the headers up squarely and evenly. Lead with the forward and rear while bringing the center header into unison while supporting the exhaust as level as possible. Do each header nut a little at a time too. Cranking them up rapidly and working from one end to the other won't bring them up square. You may get by using the current new/used gaskets.
