I know tell me about it, coldest day of the year so far for us too. 33 (+) here in Pensacola Florida this morning but it warmed up to 50 so we survived!

-27 this morning and expecting -26 tonight again... gas tank was down slightly under 1/4 tank so decided to put 6 gallons in this morning knowing I use about 1/4 tank of gas daily and not good to let it go down below 1/2 tank. MAN, just standing outside less than 5 minutes was insane no gloves or hat....

I filled my cars Sunday / Monday in prep for this. My New Beetle got PowerService White fuel treatment to prevent fuel gelling, The Golf got nothing (just pump diesel). Both cars started just fine this morning.
Diesel cars do not warm up just sitting and idling, especially when it is this cold....

Look again this morning. Plus this blowing and drifting crap. They pulled all plow trucks off the road yesterday for safety reasons. Supposed to be back out this morning at 5:00 am. Crashing all over the place because people can't slow down or shouldn't be out in the first place. Common sense is a lost item!

they even cancelled mail delivery (post office) yesterday. Gee, the govt. just got back from the shutdown and now another day or two off?
well, better go outside and see if the truck starts outside. Was -5 in garage, but truck sits outside and -26 or so is a different story.
SAY, CAN BRAKE LINES FREEZE OR FEEL SPONGY IN THIS COLD WEATHER? WIFE SAID TO ME DRIVING INTO WORK THIS MORNING THAT HER BRAKES FELT SPONGY AND DID NOT WORK TOO WELL. I drove it yesterday and felt a tad spongy, but not horrible, just having to push harder down on the brake pedal and not as good of braking power, but not that much.
You know it is cold outside just saw this morning my patio door on the INSIDE about 3 inches up even onto the glass I have ice/freeze INSIDE my patio door, never that bad EVER prior just a inch tops on bottom of the wood INSIDE onto my patio door on the bottom.

We've had a few -25° evenings recently. Difference is, our cold "snap" stretches from late October until mid April.

Yeah. We just call it winter. You all in MN and Canada have it rougher than us in WI for sure. Still, cold is cold. First time ever I recollect seeing -36 outside air temp this morning.

I bet it’s much harder on the folks that aren’t used to it. Likewise, I’m sure I’d die in the southern US in the summer.

I've camped in a tent when it was -30. I used to do all kinds of stuff in the cold. But I was just back up there in December and my brother and I took my nephew shopping one day to get away from the hospital for a bit. Holy crap ! I was freezing in no time. I turned to my brother and said it must be about 0*. We walked by a bank with a sign displaying the time and temp. 16* was it. I felt like a real wimp, and realized I wasn't the man I used to be.

Yeah. We just call it winter. For sure. I'd need a new wardrobe and more indoor activities, combined with a larger, better insulated, and better heated garage to play in if I had your climate. Funny, it's been -3° for a few hours, and it didn't feel all that cold (until you don't dress for it and your nose falls off)
