The rest of the story is the cops lied... and there Chief lied. Said it was a hit and run driver that caused it. Then the video comes out.

appears from video the car in front of the first cycle was slowing down so the cycle slowed down and 2nd cycle never slowed down not paying attention having plenty of time to slow down.  daydreaming I guess?  Then again,  I have taken my eyes off the road for 1-2 seconds in vehicles and cycles and stuff happens very quickly near rear ending another car or veering off the road in a mere 1-2 seconds.
