I plan on telling her that exact thing, it's a motivational that they've gone undefeated that long, innit?

I really feel for my dad, he went with her to a watch party last night (He despises sportsball even more than I do) and was texting me all night about how mind numbingly bored he was, how much he just wanted to go home, would rather be playing with the grandkids, etc. etc. etc...

BTW, since this is a light hearted thread, I ever tell you about what happened when my mom called her mom to tell her I was born?

Hey, tell him to suck it up buttercup. It’s for the greater good of humanity. Brenda doesn’t like football either, and now it appears her genes have taken hold in my grandson.  Angry But we joked around about other stuff all night. You guys should join your Dad next year.  cooldude

No, I don’t think so. Did she say “I just pushed out the next Too Tall Ed Jones ?”

So I was born the evening of Saturday, December 11th 1971. I was my mom's first, but not my grandmother's first grandchild.

After making it through the night and recovering a bit, my mom called her mom to tell her the good news.

"Mom, I had my baby, Brian's doing well and..." Grandma interrupts...

"That's great and all, can you call me back though, the Cowboys are playing right now."

I used to believe the story to be apocryphal, was almost afraid to research if the Cowboys were actually playing that day but recently I finally did, and they were, the story checks out...

Cowboys beat up on the New York Giants 42 to 14, and that was more important to my grandma than talking to my mom about my birth....

Maybe that's why I've never been that into sportsball, playing second fiddle to it from the very beginning?

2funny that’s the most awesomest birthing story I’ve ever heard. Don’t feel too bad, that was probably during Tom Landry’s tenure. He was near godlike to us. (Do you think your mom and grandma would adopt me ?)

Oh cool, I'd never researched the rest of it, evidently the Dallas Cowboys went on to win the Super Bowl a few weeks after I was born too...

I remember it well. Chuck Howley was my favorite player back then. He was old, slow, but very football wise. Always seemed to know how to get in the right place at the right time. He kicked butt in that game. See there Serk, what you always took as a slight was actually an honor in reality.  Wink Bob Lilly, Bobby Hayes, Roger Staubach, Walt Garrison, .....oh what a team they were.  angel

Clearly the Cowboys winning at that time in history is obviously the result of your birth at that time.
I am sure if you research further you can find prophecy that would bear that out.

Surely this would get you Season tickets. At a minimum.

Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Clearly the Championship is due to Serk’s grandma sacrificing her conversation with her daughter for the greater good of the Cowboys. She has earned a spot in my heart as a true Cowboy fan.  Wink

Hey, this thread isn't about the stinkin' Cowboys, it's about the stinkin' Lions.   crazy2 2funny

Part of the amazing Pats story, is how Belichick builds champions choosing near last in the draft all the time.  The Lions are always way up there in the draft, and we've had some great players as a result, but no champion teams.  A few of our top (draft pick) running backs retired early rather than get beat up all day every Sunday, and I don't blame them.  I quit HS football for much the same reason (and girls and cars and jobs).

The way I heard it is that Serk's grandma knew of the prophecy that the birth of Serk would begin the Cowboy's championship reign. Serk's mom called and confirmed the birth and therefore the prophecy so no more was needed to be said. Serk and the Cowboys were fulfilling the prophecy at that very instant.

We'll know more as Serk continues his research.

I just heard that Broward county found some more points for Los Angeles.  Recount ensues.   Shocked
