I have been riding, but today Ive been working.  I fix a lot of furniture for moving companies that damage lots of furniture.  So I guess I have been getting better at it.

My guy brought me this chair, the leg got squished in the power lift of the truck.  Whole profiles gone.  YUCK

So it was wood putty time

Then sand and carve it back to original shape and paint a base coat

Then stain and polyurethane.....back on the chair, magic

That was hard to get the fixed leg to look old like the undamaged one....its pretty close

Nice job on the repair. I have to do that once in awhile, also. Do you have a pic with the final finish? That's what gives me the most headache....

DOH, it just popped up...

Nice job!

At my house, the other three legs would have been banged up to match the damaged one.

But then, that is my skill set.   2funny

Nice work brother.   cooldude

You know Chris, I was a USAF claims officer at two bases.  We paid for that kind of repair work all the time for damaged household goods shipments.  I don't know how close you are to any military claims (legal) offices (any branch), but if you were to make yourself known to them, you might be able to get a bunch of work.  If that was something you wanted.  Although, the money is paid to the claimant, and the claimant has to hire you.

I do work for three or four of them already......lowest bidders break lots of stuff.

Now its different most claims are handled by a third party claims company and the shipper (militarry person) loses to the middle man all the time

agree,  my ex neighbor invited me 2 nights ago into his fancier new house.  He was too lazy (plus wife and female adult kid are useless) to move his own stuff (not much really) into his new house so hired a moving company at a pretty penny taking them all of 6 hours is all to move it all into his house from a 10x16 storage shed.  I saw 3 major/minor scuffs very noticeable in the drywall/wood that he said the movers did.  I wonder if they can be held accountable for the damage and get someone to fix the dents/scuffs/re-paint, etc.  or not?

My former job receiving inventory and unloading trucks from freight carriers makes me really wonder as well about these freight carriers handling millions of dollars of purchases, do they really care at all and just blame the vendor that this was the way it came to them - yah right!!  I have refused delivery a few times and really pisses them off but when it is $100,000s' of inventory and probably nothing wrong with it inside the damaged boxes,  they need to take better care of their shipments.

My mover guy picked up the chair a few minutes ago and he was blown away. Didn’t even flinch at the price. I’m too cheap. Lol
