Another thread over on the tech board got me thinking. We've probably all had some crappy experiences with a dealer or 2. I know I have. And it's good to let others know to avoid them. But it's also good to acknowledge good ones too. It's a tough job being in a small business and making everybody happy when bad stuff happens to our bikes. So I thought I'd start a thread about good ones, or at least ones we've had a good experience with. The one I'd like to promote isn't a motorcycle dealer but an alternator shop. I broke down in Amarillo last summer on the way to Roanoke. It was extremely stressful in that my wife was going to be flying there the next day. And I needed to get going with still many miles left to travel. To make a long story short, B & W Battery Co. in Amarillo repaired my alternator in record time and got me back on the road. They are a pretty small shop but do a lot of business. They had 4 or 5 jobs scheduled ahead of me already, but squeezed mine in and got me going. I will be forever grateful to them and highly recommend them. God forbid you find yourself in Amarillo with my condition, but if you are ever there and need work they are the place to go. So, if you have a shop you like post them up. Let everyone know about the good guys.

I doubt there is much, if anything that would change Willow's opinion of me. So, I guess the answer is no.
Do you have a dealer or shop to recommend ?

Just IMHO, but let a good post be a good post, isn't that enough? As to the point of the thread, I'll toss out a recommendation for Utopia back rests. Ten years after I bought it the main metal bar snapped, I contacted them about buying a replacement, they sent me a brand new one totally free with apologies for it only lasting for a decade...

Lake City Honda in Warsaw Indiana. I have dealt with them since purchasing my new 1984 V65 Sabre and over the years purchased at least ten new Honda's from them. Every part of the experience from sales to service to parts has always been great and I can't say enough good things about them. https://lakecityhonda.com/

Agreed. I ordered one about 3 weeks before Morgantown. They said they were zero stock and had to catch up on their backlog. I expressed my regret and told the nice lady my plans for my first Inzane. Well, she pulled some strings and I had one in my mailbox 7 days later. They are definitely top notch....

I really wish the Honda Shop in Murfreesboro Tennessee was in Seneca South Carolina.
I think Schroader's Honda shop near Hendersonville NC is pretty good, and they are one of the major Gold Wing resellers in the nation.

J&B Honda in Bloomsburg PA. My first dealing with them was about 12yrs ago. I had a 1980 CB900 Custom with the dual transfer case. The alternator rotor had failed and I needed a puller. Walked into the parts counter and they didn't have one. The parts guy had never seen me before. After talking for a few minutes he reaches down under the counter and gives me a puller. "This one's mine. Just bring it back when you're done." I couldn't believe it. I've had many dealings since then and have never had a complaint. They will mount tires I buy online without a word. But I always look to throw some business their way as a result, even pay the extra for tires if I haven't needed anything from them in a while.

D&D Discount MCs in Tempe, AZ. Saw them bring a visiting 1500 wing with a stripped drive shaft. He set all else aside and got him on the road in a couple of hours. Also Western Honda in Scottsdale. GOAZ in Scottsdale is the largest MC dealer in the country. Everybody says they're treated very well there.

Good comments only. OK Here's everything good I have to say about the MC dealers in NoVA. Go ahead, scroll down......... OK, that 's far enough. To be fair, I hear the Winchester Harley dealer (way West in NoVA), has a pretty good reputation. But all I ever got there was coffee.

Local dealership, Greeneville Honda, has always been fair and appreciative of the business I give them. They even started mounting my CT’s for the goldwing.
They let me take a 2018 wing out for a demo that lasted a few hours without any complaints.

They fitted Duffy right in for a rear tire when he miscalculated M&R did the same for me when I got a front tire with multiple pin holes a few years ago..

The Murfreesboro shop saved my bacon with a tire on a rainy Friday afternoon about 4:30... turned out to be the best tire I've found for the 1800, it is the kind I still get... Schroader's did Duffy's bike on a Sunday... -Mike "hooray for 7th day adventists..."

I'll throw some compliments toward Coleman Power Sports in Woodbridge, Va. They're in Falls Church too. I needed an annual state inspection, did a mid-day drop in (took an extended lunch), no appointment. They did the inspection and an oil/filter change in a timely manner, then came and found me in the showroom when it was finished. I'd go back there. https://www.wherethepoweris.com/

To be fair Earl, I've been going to the Woodbridge Coleman dealer for years for my tires (and a few other small things) (and I bring my own tires). And picked up a few pieces of gear on closeout. But I had one (very good Valk) tech who took care of me for all of this work, and he has since gone on to open his own shop. (I think closer to you than me, and I have to look him up for a tire soon)
I do not like the ownership and the sales departments much.
The service dept can be backed up with hundreds of bikes, but they (may still) take quick-job ride-in Sat morning work. And the parts guy is OK.
But I would never go to a bike dealer for my inspections, I go to my local gas station who knows nothing about motorcycles. Lights, brake lights, signals, horn, tires good, nothing falling off..... pass in 2.5 minutes, pay, get sticker. Tip inspector every time; he knows me.

When I lived in NoVA, I came into the area with my 81 CB750F, traded it in for the 94 PC 800. I always went to the Falls Church location, and I never had any issues with them. They kept my Cb750F while title/ registration issues were sorted out while I was riding my new PC800.

Had some good experiences and some bad experiences on the road in the past. Early 70's on my first cross country trip on a Kawasaki 500cc H1 I needed a tire, chain and sprocket and a dealer in Albequerque took me right in and got me back on the road. In the early 90s on a cross country on a BMW I developed a gas leak that was getting dangerous and I was breathing gas fumes and my gas petcock needed to be replaced. I pulled into Denver and they didn't have one but had a rebuild kit. Dealer told it would be a week before he could help me as he said he took care of locals first. I offered double time for a mechanic to work over and he said no I went into the back and talked with a mechanic who agreed to help me in a strip center parking lot after he got off. He did and I got back on the road. I wrote a very good article about the dealership in the BMW magazine when I got back . Then in 2006 on a Iron Butt run I had a small problem with my Valkyrie the day before I left out of Kerrvill, Tx and the dealership there dropped everything and fixed me up Great guys there. Seems when I left Houston for Kerrville where I was to start my IBA run I noticed my Valkyrie was running sluggish with a loss of power. I had had the oil changed in Houston right before the trip and the Kerrville dealership found that there was too much motor oil in the engine and the flywheel instead of slapping the oil to splash the oil was swimming in oil and the engine was trying to run under oil same as if you were trying to run in waist deep water. They drained some oil and all was perfect. They saved the day.

When I blew out the u-joint on my trike in the middle of nowhere SD last summer the guys at Open Road Honda in Mandan ND were great. I had to be hauled in Monday afternoon and they got right on it but could not get the new parts ordered in time for air freight next day. The parts could not get there until Wednesday around noon but the owner, Dusty, let me use his demo GoldWing for a couple of days of local touring. As soon as the part was in they pulled a couple of guys for my job and I was back on the road Wed. afternoon. I would also add that the shop was full so I really appreciate the fact that they would help a mere passerby with such service.

Aurora Honda was always Valkyrie friendly. Didn’t try to pay for their entire shop budget with each tire change.
