1998 tourer

my windshield seems to be peeling on the in side ( driver side of shield ) is there a fix for it , like polish it off or just replace it ? TIA for any advise.

I have a 98 Tourer. I have read a few guys trying to clean-up a peeling shield with mixed results.
My shield had lines in it that I got tired of looking thru. Four years ago (I was your age now) I decided
to put on a tinted Clearview with a vent. I had the same set up on a 85 Goldwing and loved the
turbulence I could adjust with the vent. I went with the 2 inch shorter than stock, mistake.
The short shield almost eliminated me ducking down in heavy rain behind the shield. Also with the
increased airflow over the shield the noise level drowns out my speakers at 55-60 mph.
The tint is great.

The Honda OEM shield has a hard coating on it.  Once it starts peeling it's either peel it all off or replace it.  I've heard some have used packing tape to help remove it.  Be glad you have the Honda hardware (talking about Tourer shield now) as you need it to mount a Clearview shield.  That's what I have now on Deerslayer and Jade.  It's better to get a full-size shield then tip it to see over it.  Lots of advantages to that - easy to do, reversible, more streamlined for less buffeting, gas cap reflection cast down, you can duck behind it in heavy rain, better mileage, higher top speed.  BTW Clearview is running a sale.  On the tipping - see http://www.horseapple.com/Valkyrie/Tech_Tips/Windshield_Tipping/windshield_tipping.html

Clearview shields fit on OEM hardware and are real nice...

I have a tinted/vented Clearview and love it. Optically perfect.

Packing tape will take it off in no time. Just be a little more careful when cleaning or wiping because it scratches more easily.

I replaced my wind screen with one from Honda Direct. It is not peeling but begin hazing badly after a very short time. With good care. Clearview next time for me..

Just replace it. You will have more time messing with it if you don't. It not worth the hassle. Clear View...

Here's something else- 

when cleaning  your Clearview shield (good windshields)  get it real wet first, then clean with vertical strokes only, not side-to-side.   Do this because the scratches that are horizontal are the ones that are visible when the sun hits them, the vertical ones you never see when you're riding.   Of course, use wax to poilsh it off, too, pledge or whatever.    This is actually a standard thing in the aviation community, who all fly behind a plexiglass windscreen.

I remember cringing when I saw two nice yellow 1800 goldwings pull in to a
gas station and both riders started cleaning their windshields with the cardboard-like
gas station towels in a circular motion... I mostly clean my eight or nine
year old clearview with water and a microfiber cloth using rug_burn's vertical
strokes... still looks great!
