The Red Green Show.... possibly the funniest thing to ever be on the TV. Billed as the Canadian version of "Home Improvement, it beat HI all day. I'd trade about 40 of the channels I get now if they'd just run 24 hours of Red Green. (and maybe throw in some Monty Python and Benny Hill.) Ok... 50.

The Red Green show is close to the heart of all Canucks... sometimes parody, sometimes true to life examples of how most of us guys up here roll. Many of the seasons are available as full episodes on You Tube for free... I still watch them all the time, it never gets old. Steve Smith who started as a singer and comedy sketch actor with his wife created that character for their previous Smith and Smith TV show Way back when and it took off to where he was forever transformed into Red Green...a true Canadian hero

Well, most of my formative years growing up (on a MI island), I could see Canada from my front yard on Lake Erie, across from Amherstburg Ontario (South of Windsor). We ran across in aluminum boats and smuggled good Canadian beer and fireworks home. The hell with customs. See Grosse Ile? I lived in the southernmost house on the whole island. (Some of Canuckistan must have rubbed off) Down at the bottom of the 2d little Island (Hickory) to the right. Canadian shoreline, far right.

I'm not sure, but..... Rouge River around Zug Island actually caught on fire a couple times from pollution. (I spent eight wonderful summers on Zug Island earning school money) The green side is Canada. The Ambassador Bridge up top to Windsor Ontario.

Jess, I beleive you met my cousin Mike (named after me ) who was at Morgantown Inzane with me. He's lived in Windsor all his life and he has the same stories ... albeit in reverse, about crossing into the US as a youngster to take advantage of certain things not available to him at home in those days ( such as buying liquor on Sundays, etc). On occasion I have combined Toronto and Michigan work trips where I fly into Toronto for a few days, drive to Windsor to spend the weekend with him, and then cross that bridge to where my MI distributor's H.O. is located in Farmington. Ya, if you're such a big fan of old Red Green, for sure a bit of Canuckleland has rubbed off on you

And here I thought you were the Mike I met and had a good, long friendly talk with in Morgantown. (it's hard to recognize people on the interweb ) I'm back up there every Summer, but the family moved away from the Island out to the farm country south of Ann Arbor, now decades ago. I can't go to Canada anymore, I let my passport expire. No one needed a passport back in the day.

I am from up river on Lake St Clair. At first glance I thought it was Belle Isle, but didn't recognize the little island at the right. I never been on Zug Island or Grosse Isle.

My Google-Fu says it's Grosse Ile... Yeah, just like I wrote in my post (with the pictures). Nine miles long, a mile and half wide, with taxes so high all kinds of retirees have to sell their homes and move.

Man - that brings back memories. Back in the late 1990's they used run The New Red Green Show on our local PBS station here in the Milwaukee Area! My buddy and I would get a 6 pack of beer and watch the show... then repeat the lines the next day at work.
I was once a member of the Red Green Fan Club... truly funny show. Somewhere in a drawer, I have a Red Green coffee mug and a book of his "Campfire Wisdom"... and I gave my uncle the DVD of the movie they made, "Duct Tape Forever".
One memory is when he turned an old Chrysler "K" car into a 3 cylinder snow mobile...
And remember, " If women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy!"
I wonder how old, Old man Sedgwick is by now??
