The environmental group that sued claims the city does not have legal standing to build the Obama center within Jackson Park, about 7 miles south of downtown. Among other arguments, detractors say that because the structure won't house the former president's archives, it shouldn't be built on public park land.

There could be thousands of these, and they would benefit so many more people.  It's the right thing to do.

Each one could have a little reading material in it too.  Like a 3 X 5 card synopsis of his memoirs.

There's been much, "discussion" in IL over the library for a couple of years now, and how it's being done the "Chicago Way". Kind of like an outdoor venue near Grant Park where the zoning didn't permit it-period. next thing you know, it's slightly smaller and a "performance art object" to get approval. Similar things with the Obama Library situation, though I forget the details. Heck, dig a little and the smell of how he got his nice home in the Chicago suburbs is like a garbage truck on a summer day. Personally, I don't think ANY President should get a Library anymore, it's become a huge money pit instead a simple repository of one's term documents and bric-brack. Let the  folks with the perks for life fund it themselves or raise the money privately. In Obama's case, why build a library to store and display things that won't even be in it. Sounds more like tax fraud.

A serious query to our friends on the left:

1. Do you seriously believe President Trump has done anything remotely illegal enough to be impeached, removed and imprisoned?

2. Even if he had, do you seriously believe there is any possibility he would actually see any jail time?

Just curious if ya'll are just being funny about this stuff or if you actually, seriously, really believe the conspiracy theories.

Time will tell. Right now there is a bunch of smoke. Until we see the full report it's just an educated guess.

The question I have that nobody on the right seems to care about :

1) If Trump is beholden to Russia for his money or anything else and it's shown he has engaged in a conspiracy to subvert our laws, would you be in favor of impeachment ?

There's reports of smoke from sources that have proven to be less than accurate when it comes to telling stories about this President.  That's very different than proclaiming there is any actual concern.

On the other hand, prominent democrats have had actual provable verifiable "fires" extinguished and covered up

What a double standard. Like I said before. We will know when the swamp is sufficiently drained when at least HRC is in prison.

Not a valid question since its already been answered.

Mueller report PSA: Prepare for disappointment

And be forewarned that the special counsel’s findings may never be made public.

After two years and 200 interviews, the Senate Intelligence Committee is approaching the end of its investigation into the 2016 election, having uncovered no direct evidence of a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia, according to both Democrats and Republicans on the committee.

On Obama, why would Obama make records that could possibly incriminate him, that he had sealed already, allow them to go into a library and unseal them? Really? Obama knows not to stir the pot.

He used the library excuse to stop some investigations into his dealings since records that go into the library would be unavailable for senate investigations.

Actually, that's his newer Post-term place in DC, but the fact they built it because it was felt extra security was needed is ironic proof that walls work. Personally, I say tear down that wall, take off all the doors, and let him defend himself with a pen and a phone.

1) If Trump is beholden to Russia for his money or anything else and it's shown he has engaged in a conspiracy to subvert our laws, would you be in favor of impeachment ?

Show me ALL the evidence first, then I'll give you an answer.

The man seems to have had as much money as God (or thereabouts) from mainly US investments for a lifetime.  Other than Hillary selling a 20% interest in our Uranium (which is actually documented), I have yet to see solid evidence of anyone grandly conspiring with the Russians about anything.

So far all the Mueller prosecutions have been about lying or mis-stepping in the investigation, not conspiring against the US with Russia.  (which long ago made me draw comparisons to the JFK grassy nole fruit cakes).

One wonders if Mueller is trying to break the Ken Starr record for longest investigation.  Though I am unaware of any awards or medals for longest instigation.  That Mueller's crusade is a direct or indirect payback for Ken Starr seems more than likely.

In poker (and in Due Process of Law), you get to see everyone's cards before you declare a winner.  This seems to be a reasonable idea.

Of course the main stream media has lost all credibility (and subjectivity) on everything, forever.  So no answer of any kind can ever come from them.  Even the freeking weather people have taken to grand exaggeration (and holding on to a poles against the wind, while children play hopscotch in the background).  They deserve nothing but contempt.

Interesting that nobody has yet answered the question.

At a high level, my answer is yes.

More nuanced, there are many variables.
What do you mean by "beholden" to Russia? Has he done business with Russians? Of course he has. Does he or one of his businesses owe some money to someone connected to Russia? As large as his business interests are I'd be very surprised if he didn't have some connections to someone connected to Russia.

Need to find an impartial person to investigate such a thing. The FBI is tainted and proven itself to not be impartial. Mueller has shown himself to be tainted with a grudge and an ax to grind and is not to be trusted.

So, if it were proven that President Trump indeed engaged in a conspiracy to subvert real laws to the betterment of Russia, then nail him to the wall.

But that's gonna be a tall hill to climb without an impartial investigation (Other than the impartial investigation the Senate just concluded, of course ;) )

IF there is incontrovertible evidence of ANY crimes that Trump committed, that warrant imprisonment or impeachment, then yes I would support it, ONLY after we see the un-redacted emails of Clinton and the entire Obama administration and have a through investigation of same, including what they were able to recover from the evidence destruction efforts of Clinton.  AND we must also include Lois Lerner and Debbie Washerwoman Schultz.  As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter which party you belong to, if you broke the law and snuggled the American taxpayer, and are convicted, then Bye, bye SOB!  Lock 'em up!

Plain enough for you?

I thought they came out and already said there was no conspiracy in any way, shape or form.
Not even a hint of impropriety.  ;)
The Special Council's report has not come out yet. If you are hanging your hat on the Senate Intelligence chairman saying they found no proof, that is a completely different story.

Interesting that nobody has yet answered the question.

Yes, it's plain enough. One persons crime has nothing to do with the possibility of another's crime.
