Interesting views, all

I actually think it's because of the superspeedways themselves, and FWIW I really DON'T like it when "the big one" comes. They were hitting 200mph in the Infinity Series yesterday, I don't need more speed-I need more racing. IMHO, speed is for the open wheel cars, and bumping and banging is for stock cars. (I'll call 'em stock cars until NASCAR changes the name to NASA) From the start, there were too many good people dying in wrecks that they'd walk away from now, and that was at under 100mph. Now we have giant high banked tracks with one preferred line and one or two trains of cars racing. I could fix Talladega in one off-season-bulldoze the banking until it was flat, and put in more bathrooms
Tracks like Bristol I love-it's slow enough for some aggressive behavior in relatively safe cars. Didn't mind a bit when they added road tracks, I can't count the hours I spent at Road America in the 60's & early70's watching Can-AM races, along with various versions of SCCA, WERRA and other racing. Amazing drivers like Mark Donahue, Hobbs & Bell, Bobby Rahal, Peter Revson, Sertes, McClaren, Jim Hall, Andretti, you name it. Early Can Am was almost "run what ya brung" and the speeds were faster than the Indy cars of the same period-on a ROAD course. Good times. The road determined top speed and downforce was a new toy to be played with, even experimenting with skirts and fans to create a vacuum.
I want to see cars come back to the pits with black donuts and fresh colors on them, but with intact drivers grinning like Junior Johnson.
Yellow and I are pleased with how the first Stage finished, hoping Kyle can do it again on Stage 2
