I generally like watching NASCAR - except for Daytona and Talledega.

I don't mind the Stage mode, not sure if it's ever changed the outcome in a predictable way. Obviously, if your guy is in front, you don't like "extra" restarts, but like today's race, there were plenty of restarts between the end of Stage 2 and the checkered. For those who want more speed, today's race was why I don't. 20+ car out because slight touches mean big wrecks. Might as well watch open wheels

          SNUGGLE the "stages" they ain't needed by a long shot. Run the cursed race way it's sposed ta be-green flag whatever cautions are Actually needed checkered flag to the winner. And unleash their engines but square up the front end-increase wind resistance. I Thiought the object of Racing was to RACE!  RIDE SAFE.

Change is inevitable. I do think they will have to do something with these big restrictor plate races. It comes down to pure luck at the end vs. skill.

What do you think of the new format?

The answer might be found in the huge decline in both attendance and TV ratings.  Watching a track full of identical cars running outdated engines can get boring.  I miss the days when NASCAR had some diversity, running cars that had a little resemblance to the cars dealers sold.

The same goes for F1 and Indycars.  F1 used to run 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and even 16 cylinder engines.  Two manufacturers tried 6 wheeled cars.  Indy had 4 cylinder Offys, V6 Buicks, and V8s from a slew of companies.  It made the racing much more interesting IMO.  Now only the paint jobs are unique.

Restrictor plates are gone.  To be replaced with tapered spacers.

Same results. 

Ho Hum. 

There isn't much individual innovation in Nascar anymore.

Been phased out over the decades.

It's all pretty much strategy and pit stops are what makes the difference.

I don't mind the stages, give the points, but don't yellow flag the race.
And list the green flag time so I can skip all the bs and hopefully just see racing...

Restrictor plates and tapered whatever only have one effect. They equalize the field and make it possible to have 30 cars bunched up at the end of the race. How else are you going to have a multi-car pileup? That's progress?

AND nascar keeps tryin their damndest to keep flushing.  And they-nascar-are succeeding.  Past the septic tank and on into the soil field. RIDE SAFE.

I have lived 60-75 miles from the Speedway since the mid 70's. Never been inside. Bike Week used to have a bunch of venders and demo rides there. My buddy and I used to complain about the noise the racing bikes were making.    I even had a shot at free tickets when my son was in the Scouts for the week but not the 500.

My thoughts on nascar are simple. Flush the toilet and throw in a fistful of skittles Just as exciting and a lot cheaper for all involved.
