Finally got my Voltmeter installed.  The power switch left of the speaker turns on the Voltmeter and the USB Port that's on the right side of the dash without having to turn the ignition switch on.

Nice install.... Mine looks identical but blue instead of red, and I also installed mine in the left pod...

The reason I wanted the ability to monitor the voltmeter without the key on was to get true static battery voltage. Turn the key on and you have voltage drop because of the big draw from the lights.

Here's where I put mine... It's more readable and visible in person than it is in pictures, but the red probably woulda been smarter...

I KINDA wish I'd done it on the fairing for easy readable, but knowing myself, if it WAS there I'd be staring at it all the time, so where it is now I have to make a conscious effort to check it...

Great idea...I never thought about using all that acreage on the pods.

Mine are on the inside of the farings (out on the speaker cutouts) too.  Right where I like them for line of sight.   Mine aren't gauges (Kuryakyn leds), but if my alternator drops (or some other problem), they will start showing yellow or red LEDs, instead of green.  And I'll see it.

Nice, they fit well there. How viewable is the Voltage one? I like mine on top of the dash, can see it clearly while riding.

They look very nice.  I like this USB better than the way I have my wire mounted.  Mine is a permanent mount and the end of the wire is always in the weather.  The weather takes a toll on the connector that goes into the phone and I need to change it every year.  It is not easy for me to change because it connects to the auxiliary fuse block and runs under the tank and up to the handle bars.

Could you let me know where you purchased them from and do you have any problems reading the gauge if the sun is shinning on the voltage gauge.

The one you see on my dash has an attached rubber plug that you insert when the weather gets wet.

This is the one I bought, if I had it to do over I might get the red instead the blue is admittedly not terribly easy to read in bright light, especially where I mounted it but I wanted it kinda out of the way.

I intentionally got one that did NOT have USB ports on it, I wanted it as simple and basic as possible for this unit, my USB charging needs are handled by a separate subsystem.

I will be installing one on my standard as a bar mount, and green is the best overall color for being seen in sunlight.

Nice.....liking that analog gauge a lot!!! So is that wired straight to the battery, or obviously through another method?

Straight to the battery with a switch wired in line on the ground wire so I can turn it on and off at will so I can check the battery even if the bike isn't running. The switch is on the ground to not rob any juice to the meter

When my alternator failed...twice in two years(the second time from the jerryrigged "rebuild") I want to see what is going on...weird fluctuations can possibly predict if something not right is going on. Right now the meter is showing a steady 14.2 volts when running and 12.6 static meaning the battery is in pretty good shape as well.
I bought a brand new OEM Honda Alt. after being stranded twice.

Yup I too want to be able to monitor all the time, I installed a voltmeter on my V-Strom not long after I bought it.

I just bought a plug-in meter for now that goes into my handlebar mounted 12V/USB socket. Nice and bright and easy to keep an eye on when riding and I just take it out and keep it in my trunk when not riding.
Deciding on whether to go with an in-dash mount volt meter, or include with a USB plug in the pod as I'd like to clean up that space on the bars....so this is a good thread  cooldude
